Product Review: Goody Ouchless® Paddle Brush

Are These Styling Tools Really Ouchless, or is it Just Another Bit of Marketing Hype?

Mavyn McDaniels
The Goody Ouchless Collection is a collection of styling tools and accessories designed for pain-free, easy styling. I have the Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush and the Goody Ouchless Detangling Comb, but they also have round brushes, vent brushes and a variety of other styling tools in this line.

To help you better determine how well the Goody Ouchless Collection will work for you, here is the lowdown on my hair. It is long and thick and, depending on the day, it is somewhere between wavy and curly. I've been dyeing it for years, so while it looks and feels healthy, you know there is at least a bit of damage to contend with that can make brushing and combing a more arduous task.

Product Review: Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush on Wet Hair

I know, I know - I'm not supposed to brush my hair when it's wet, but sometimes I do anyways. It might be that I need to throw it into a ponytail or an up-do while it's still wet or that I'm too lazy to go get a comb, but on occasion I do indeed brush my curly locks while they are wet.

Sometimes this can be a painful affair and my curls will repeatedly snag, leaving a gob of hair on the brush and pretty much guaranteeing that my hair will dry into a frizzy mess without some helpful products. But, not so with the Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush; finally I have found a brush that my hair won't hide from after I get out of the shower.

The large size of the paddle brush allows for brushing in a few quick strokes and the springy bristles give enough to let your hair slip through them without snagging. So, for those times when I'm feeling a bit naughty and brush my hair while it's wet, this brush is definitely the way to go.

Product Review: Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush on Dry Hair

Even if I detangle my hair with a comb directly after the shower, that doesn't always mean that brushing it once it has dried will be a pain- and snag-free process. As anyone with wavy or curly hair can tell you, no matter what you do, trying to brush your hair when it's dry is not always the most fun thing you will do that day.

However, it can be almost painless with the Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush. I do experience the occasional snag, so it isn't absolutely ouchless, but it is certainly the closest thing I have found. The Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush is far superior in detangling and smooth brushing power than any of the other brushes I have tried.

Product Review: Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush for Styling

Due to the size of the Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush, it is not the best choice for styles that require precision and fine detail. However, it is a great smoothing and finishing brush, particularly if you will be wearing your hair down or in a simple up-do.

Product Review: Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush Overall Review

Overall, the Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush is a great addition to your styling routine. It isn't completely ouchless, but it's pretty close and definitely more pain-free than any other brush I've used.

It's perfect for smoothing fly-aways and doesn't make curly hair frizzy, which is a huge plus. It would also be great to use on kids who don't like to have their hair brushed because it hurts.

I love my Goody Ouchless Paddle Brush so much that I use it every night before I go to bed, as well as for my regular styling needs.

I brush my hair when it's wet too. Sounds like a good product.
