Product Review: Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers: Beef Merlot

Bandit
Your tummy and taste buds will say thank you thank you very much for this one.

My tummy was rumbling and I did not want any fast food but I did want a meal that was tasty but did not take a lot of time to make. I made a trip to our local Brookshires to take a look through the frozen meal section.

Recently I had been seeing commercials on the television about New Healthy Choice Café Steamers. Each time I watched the commercial I thought to myself how good the dish looked on television right out of the microwave. I finally made a decision to try the Beef Merlot since I had seen it advertised on television. The meal on the commercial looked yummy.

What caught my attention the most about this product is that the meal comes packaged in a steam cooker and I thought how unique and different this was. I grabbed two of them from the freezer at the grocery store. They were 2 for $6.00. As soon as I got home I took one out of the cardboard packaging and placed the meal in the microwave. After I let it cooked for four to six minutes I removed the meal and let it set for two minutes. I grabbed a fork and sat down to dig in and enjoy my lunch. I scooped up a potato a few green beans and a piece of the meat and my taste buds were pleasantly surprised at just how juicy and tender the meat was. The meat is tender enough to be cut with only a fork.

The green beans are crisp and are a vivid color of green and the carrots are a deep orange and they burst with flavor and crispness. The carrots taste exactly like the baby carrots in the little bags. Fresh and full of flavor. The red potatoes were simply delightful. They were soft and as good as what you would bake in a standard oven.

The veggies and beef are blended in with a Merlot wine. The sauce actually resembles brown gravy and is the right consistency. It is not too runny and does not have too much thickness to it. There are also tiny bits of diced onions mixed in throughout this dish which blends all of the flavors in perfect harmony with one another.

The meal comes packaged in a green cardboard box and the meal itself is packaged in a white round plastic bowl and then on the bottom is the steamer plate which has holes throughout it that gives the meal its steaming style baking affect. The bowl that the meal is in is covered with a plastic film that you peel off when it is ready to eat.

Healthy Choice Café Steamers is a fast, quick and easy meal with no fuss, no mess and best of all no cleanup. You cook it in the microwave, peel of the plastic cover grab a fork and stir and dig in. There are twelve other varities available of Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers

This is an excellent choice for a hot and healthy meal and is much better for you thatn a burger and fries. Healthy Choice Beef Merlot contains only 6 grams of fat and has 220 calories. It is lip smackin' good.

Two thumbs up for this deal of meal.

That was one of my favorites, however they have changed the Merlot wine sauce which is quite bland now. So I won't be having that anymore, but they have many others that are quote good. Try the Baslamic chicken. Hope that does not change also.

Way too much plastic. And not even recycled.

I've been eating Cafe Steamers for lunch and dinner for the past 12 days and have lost 6 lbs. They're a decent portion of great tasting food!

The Chicken Tuscany is one of my favs!

Thanks - sounds good. My only problem with HChoice stuff (and other low-fat frozen dinners) is they usually aren't enough to satisfy my appetite!

This sounds genuinely good and better than the dry, chewy sandwich I wolfed down tonight.
