I was resistant to give my son Tylenol or Motrin all the time. I don't want to be dosing my son with pain killers all the time, not to mention that those paid killers also contain medications to treat fever and other symptoms that your baby may not have.
So, I started looking for another alternative, everyone I talked to recommend these teething tablets as the best thing they have ever found. They are natural, so there is no extra stuff they don't need and you don't have to worry about giving them too many. In fact, the recommended dosage on the bottle is: "...2 to 3 tablets..., four times per day."
The tablets contain Chamomile, Calcium Phosphate, Coffee and Alkaloids all in a sweet milk sugar base, which is what gives them their powdered sugar taste. They melt almost instantly and start working immediately.
My baby boy loves them and has now identified them with giving him relief. When he is hurting and he sees me getting a few out, he perks up a little. Now, not to say that I don't give him Tylenol or Motrin, at all anymore I do. There are definitely days when he is in a lot of pain, but Hyland's Teething Tablets are a great alternative. Plus, they are in a small bottle you can keep in your purse or diaper bag and not as messy to administer to the baby.
So, my recommendation to all of you mom's (and dad's, of course) is get yourself a bottle to keep anywhere you can think of. We found ours at Wal-Mart and they were under $2, so pick up a couple of bottles just in case.
And, as my husband figured out they are great as a distraction tool when clipping fingernails. The noise they make when the bottle is shaken, offers endless fun for babies. As always, make sure that you are supervising your baby when they are playing with something that could be potentially dangerous.
So, we give Hyland's Homeopathic Teething Tablets two baby thumbs WAY UP!!!
