Product Review: Hobo Brand Leather Wallets

Gorgeous, Large but Not Chunky, Versatile and Functional: The Total Package

Most of us know the "Hobo" brand of leather shoulder and hand bags: functional, affordable, cute, stylish and well-made. Did you also know that they manufacture a line of wallets that are really everything you could want in an accessory which you use on a daily basis? I've owned my Hobo wallet for over a year now. I purchased it on sale at Nordstrom's for $64, and it was worth every penny and more. Generally, their womens' wallets retail in the $150 range; if you can snag one on sale, you'll have a great buy on a great wallet. What do I like the most about this product?

1. Its appearance. I chose their patent leather wallet in an Easter egg blue color, and it's such a cheerful, pretty color. They offer their wallets in a variety of solid colors and prints, so you'll have a good selection from which to choose. The patent is as shiny as the day I bought it, and is an Epi leather, so it doesn't show pen marks, rubs, scratches, etc. as much as a soft leather wallet eventually will. Also, it has soft leather folds on the corners at all sides, which is a nice designer touch.

2. Its functionality. The wallet has a wristlet band at the top, so I can just dig into my purchase and pull it out by the wristlet handle. (Hobo also features a nice, silver toned 'Hobo' hang tag at the end of its zipper, which is both very pretty and useful, as it's an over-sized zipper pull - so much easier to use!)

3. Its size. I carry a LOT of things in my wallet. (I'm disabled and need to carry around more paperwork than the average woman probably does.) The wallet measures 8 1/2" x 4", with a 1 1/2" depth. It looks like a small, classy wristlet or clutch in both design and size. The interior is a funky black and white cloth print. There's your standard over-sized driver's license clear pocket as well as a coin pocket - perfectly sized for holding your ATM card, by the way - next to it, which has a snap closure. The opposite side has seven card holder slots. Each slot is deep enough that I can 'stack' at least two - and sometimes, up to four - cards in each slot. One interior side has a full-length opening, in which you can actually put a regularly-sized checkbook as well as other papers; this slot measures 7" in length. The other interior side has TWO 7" slots, so there's a ton of storage space for important documents that you need to carry with you at all times.

The wallet has a full zip-around closure, with the zipper and fabric the same color as the wallet leather itself.

I really would recommend this Hobo wallet to any woman looking for a classic, stylish wallet that provides an amazing amount of space as well.

I've used a number of designer and less expensive wallets over the years, but this Hobo 'clutch' styled wallet is by far the best I've ever owned. Five star rating from me!
