I have been getting server bloody noses and itchy dry sore throats daily due to the dry cool mountain air. Therefore, I had to purchase a humidifier for my home to help add some moisture back into the air. The humidifier I decided to purchases was the Honeywell HCM-890 Gallon Cool Moisture Humidifier. I have to say I have been very pleased with how well it works and would definitely recommend it to any household that is filled with dry air.
The Honeywell HCM-890 Gallon Cool Moisture Humidifier comes in a medium sized box and cost around $30 depending on where you get it. I got mine from my local hardware store unbelievably while it was on sale, but I have seen them at home improvement department stores and online. The humidifier's model number is HCM-890 and it weighs about 7 pounds without water in it. The wattage is about 45 and running it does not seem to wrack up the electrical bill, which I find nice. The humidifier holds about 2 gallons of water and comes with a Protec Antimicrobial Cleaning Cartridge Filter that helps cleanse the air while adding moisture into it.
Now the filter is on the left side of the humidifier, is large, bulky and round, and seems to need changing or rinsing out every 6 months. The water dispenser for the humidifier is on the right hand side and pulls up and off easily so you can fill it every day. It is basic and easy to use. In my household, the air is so dry that I am constantly filling up the humidifiers water dispenser every 10 hours. The way the humidifier releases moisture into the air of the home is through a fan that blows out cool air instead of hot, which I like because I have curious kitties in my house who like to checkout everything. I do not have to worry about the humidifier being hot and burning them as they sniff and poke around it. The humidifier is easy to turn on all you do is turn the knob in the middle of the humidifier to high or low. I always use mine on low because it is quieter. When the humidifier is on high it blows the air out loudly, which tends to drowned out sounds.
Overall, I have been pleased with how well the Honeywell Hcm-890 Gallon Cool Moisture Humidifier works because it has added the right amount of moisture to the air in my home. Now I do not have nosebleeds as often and my throat is not constantly feeling irritated. I will definitely not be without this humidifier in my home because I know without it I will go back to feeling miserable. I do hope those of you who try this humidifier out as well likes the way it works as much as I do.
