The HP 1022 LaserJet Printer is similar to the HP 1020. The biggest differences are the price, speed and the tray size. You can get this laser printer for under $200, which makes it more expensive than HP 1020. However, the tray will hold 260 sheets compared to 150 sheets for the HP 1020. Also, the HP 1022 LaserJet Printer can print 19 pages per minute compared to a maximum of 15 for the HP 1020.
My beliefs about this printer are shared by many of the reviews found on various sites. I found 48 reviews and 42 were excellent. Four of the reviewers thought it was good and there were 2 people who thought the printer was a piece of junk. The HP 1022 LaserJet Printer is perfect for a small - medium size business.
Weighing only 12 pounds and being small and compact make this printer easy to move and to set up. It is easy to set up taking a minute or less to do so. Low energy consumption is another excellent benefit with the ever increasing cost of electricity.
The time to the first page is outstanding. It takes less than 8 seconds for the first page to be printed. The HP 1022 LaserJet Printer comes with a full toner cartridge which has a yield of about 2,000 pages. In fact, the toner used is the same as the HP 1020 LaserJet Printer.
You can get a HP toner for $60-$70 and a remanufactured compatible toner for less than half the price. The black print quality for this printer is good.. The resolution is great at 1200 x 1200 DPI. It handles printing envelopes easily. The monthly output is 8,000 pages, which is about 275 pages daily.
This printer is host based. That means it borrows your computer processing power to process printing jobs. Also, it is Mac compatible.
There are a few issues that keep it from being a perfect printer. It is noisy and does not have duplex printing. The memory is 8 MB RAM and not upgradeable. The HP 1022 LaserJet Printer lacks a straight path which causes transparencies to bend or jam.
If you do a lot of personal printing or have a small business, this is a fantastic value for a laser. If you normally print out more than 150 pages at a sitting, this printer is worth the extra money than the HP 1020. If you ever used this printer, you may have to buy one for yourself.
