Product Review: Hyland's Colic Tablets

I received Hyland's colic tablets as a baby shower gift and about a year later when it was my sister's baby shower that experienced mom that gave me Hyland's colic tablets also gave her a bottle and I can completely see why.

Colic is a condition where a baby cries and screams for no exact reason. There are theories that colic is possibly caused by the fact that food may be moving too fast or too slow in a baby's digestive system. It is more common in bottle-fed babies but has been diagnosed in breast-fed babies. Another theory is that babies may just be having a hard time adjusting to this world.

When my baby was only a couple weeks old, he began to fuss a little bit more than usual and I noticed that he was having gas. I would give him some of the colic tablets that I received and his gas would go away and his attitude would change. He had colic, well a very mild case, and I think that the colic that he did have was a lot less severe thanks to Hyland's colic tablets.

The Hyland's colic tablets have a formula that consist of three main ingredients. Dioscorea, wild yam, helps relieve pains that come with colic systems. Chamomilla, which is chamomile, is good for restlessness and irritability that also comes with colic systems. Colocynth, bitter apple, is good for the abdominal pains caused by gas. The base of the tablet is milk sugar.

I am thankful that my baby never had any major colic moments. The mom that gave me the colic tablets however swears by them since when her baby girl was first born she had an extreme case of colic. I think that she gave both my sister and myself this as a baby shower gift because she knows from her experience that colic tablets are an essential thing to have on hand. It is uncertain when colic is going to happen and how long it is going to last.
