Product Review: The IPod Shuffle - 2nd Gen

2nd Gen MP3 Player Proves Simplicity Works

Jackson Lewis
Ipod Shuffle - MP3 Player. With all of the press on the iPod Touch, iPhone, and other higher end Apple products, the iPod shuffle remains one of my favorite MP3 players on the market. First making news as the first iPod to use flash memory, the second generation of the player comes in at less than an ounce in weight! (.55 ounces). The 2nd Generation iPod shuffle was first introduced in the early fall of 2006, and the latest updates to the shuffle were made by Apple in the fall of 2008. The latest special edition iPod shuffle to hit the market is the (Product" red version. WIth each purchase of this verison of the Shuffle, Apple donates a portion of the proceeds to the Global Fund for fighting AIDS in Africa.

MP3 Players - iPod Shuffle Features

iPod Shuffle Size

The iPod Shuffle is Apple's smallest product at 1.07 inches high, 1.62 inches wide, .41 inches depp, and only weighing .55 ounces.

iPod Shuffle Capacity

The iPod Shuffle, 2nd Generation, comes in either a 1 or 2GB flash drive. These drives can hold between 240 to 500 songs in the 128 Kbps AAC format stored on the USB flash drive.

iPod Shuffle Operating System Requirements

MAC OS X v10.4.10 or newer with iTunes 7.7 or newer. For Windows users, Vista or XP Home/Professional with Service Pack 2 or later installed with iTunes 7.7 or newer.

iPod Shuffle Supported File Types

The iPod shuffle supports more than just the native iTunes AAC Format. WAV and MP3 file formats are able to be played directly from the player without having to convert to the AAC format like with earlier iPod versions.

MP3 Players - iPod Shuffle Critiques

If you had to say something bad about the iPod shuffle (which there isn't much bad to say), one would have to say that not having the LCD screen would be the single biggest drawback of the MP3 player. The other two critques would be the that iPod shuffle does not have an equalizer and also transfers music at a slower rate than the larger iPods carried by Apple.

MP3 Players - Getting iPod Shuffle Information

You can't beat the price of the iPod Shuffle coming in well below $75 USD. Whether you're looking for your child or parent's first iPod, or just a small-sized iPod for working out, the Shuffle is a great option when shopping for an MP3 player! There are a number of websites to go to for additional information on the iPod shuffle. One great resource is www.appleipodcheap.info where you can find a number of useful questions, answers, and iPod how-to videos, as well as great gear and accessories to go with your iPod shuffle. Another good place for additional information from Apple is the Shuffle's website.

Good review! I won't lie though, I absolutely LOVE my iPod Touch. It's made me want an iPhone! I love that I can have my MP3 player, my calendar and all of that in one little pocket. It's pretty much like a PDA for me. =)
