Product Review: Isokinetics Inc. Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Monitoring your heart rate is a great way to make sure that you are getting the most out of the time you devote to working out. You want to make sure you are raising your heart rate enough to receive benefits but no so high that you are putting yourself in danger. An easy way to keep track of your heart rate during workouts is the Isokinetics Inc. Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch. You can purchase this monitor for $35 from amazon.com.

I find this monitor to be quite attractive in comparisons to other ones on the market. It looks just like a digital sport watch and comes in blue, silver, and black. It is small enough to fit a woman's wrist so that it makes good contact and gets an accurate reading. I wear the monitor whenever I want to wear a casual watch even if I do not need to know my heart rate at the time.

I like that there is no chest strap required to get a heart rate with this product. I used to own a monitor that required a chest strap but found that I did not use it often because of the work required to put it on. This monitor straps on just like a watch. It is also slightly different from other monitors in that you only need to touch it with one finger instead of two to produce a reading.

Besides providing you with your heart rate, the monitor also has a stop watch and alarm so you can keep track of your workout. It also gives you the time of day so it can double as a regular watch. The screen is big so it is easy to see quickly even while you are moving around. By pressing a button, it will light up with a blue light so you can even see it at night.

While I do find this product to be effective, especially for the price, keep in mind that it is a very basic version of a heart monitor and does not come with a lot of the options that a fancier version would have. Also, it works better for low to moderate exercise conditions. For example, it would be great for a person who enjoys walking around their neighborhood after work. It, however, would not be appropriate for a serious runner training for a marathon where a strapped heart rate monitor would be more accurate.
