Product Review: JES Korean Barbeque Sauce

I don't know if you feel the same about food as I do, but I like to eat food that has flavor -- lots of flavor. Since I am sort of a vegetarian (I don't eat meat, but I do eat fish), flavor is important to me as, yes, it's true when they say that tofu tastes like styrofoam and carrot sticks are boring. This is why I'm always on the lookout for new and different foods that will nip at my taste buds and make them beg for more. One fantastic marinade that has me hooked on its unique flavor is JES Korean Barbecue Sauce.

I found JES Korean Barbecue Sauce when I was shopping in a local Asian grocery store one day. When I saw it on a shelf, I did what I always do when I find a product I think I might like; I read the ingredients. Most of what was listed on the label sounded like a good combination of flavors. Soy sauce, red miso soybean paste, distilled vinegar, tamari soy sauce, ginger juice, garlic, red pepper, onion, sesame seeds, and black pepper all have a flavor that shouts its presence. So, I bought a bottle of this barbecue sauce, poured it over a piece of salmon, and broiled it that evening. After using the strip of salmon to wipe up every bit of barbecue sauce on my plate, I realized that JES Korean Barbecue Sauce was the best barbecue sauce I'd ever tasted. It's packed with lots of flavor, and a little bit of heat.

I purchased a 15.2 ounce bottle of JES Korean Barbecue Sauce for a mere $3.79. Besides being priced right, this marinade is all natural and has no preservatives. One tablespoon contains only 35 calories, zero cholesterol, zero trans fat, zero saturated fat, and zero total fat. Sodium content is 340 mg per serving, so those who are concerned with salt intake might want to marinate their food in less sauce. And if you do use less, it won't make much of a difference because JES Korean Barbecue Sauce has so much flavor, even a small amount will be enough.

As there are some cuts of salmon that have a real fishy flavor, JES Barbecue Sauce is perfect for me because I find that after I marinate salmon in it, the fishy taste is gone and the flavor of the salmon remains. JES Barbecue Sauce can be used on meats as well as fish. Ribs, beef, and chicken can also be marinated in this sauce. Marinating times apply according to the type of meat or fish you're cooking. The label gives instructions for each type of meat or fish being prepared.
