Product Review: Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Adjustable Infant Wrap

Tiffany Bell
Most new parents or expecting parens have probably done their research and found that swaddling a baby can actually reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Swaddling a baby helps the baby to sleep better and remain calmer during sleep making the baby safer while sleeping on her back. Also swaddling the baby with a product like the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe lessens the risk of a baby being smothered with loose blankets.

The Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Adjustable Infant Wrap is designed to recreate the coziness of a mother's womb. I decided to purchase the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe because it looked much easier to do than using a regular receiving blanket to swaddle my baby with. The SwaddleMe comes in different fabrics such as micro fleece, bamboo, 100% cotton, 100% flannel, and soft velboa fleece. The Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe also comes in 3 sizes. Preemie which only goes up to 7 pounds, small which is for a baby 7-14 pounds and large for a baby 15-22 pounds. The Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe that I purchased and used was in the micro fleece material and was a size small.

According to the directions on the package for the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe, it only takes 3 simple steps to get your baby safely swaddled in the product. There are fabric wings on the blanket that actually Velcro close and that is how you can adjust the swaddling to your baby. The design of the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe allows for easy diaper changes so you don't have to un-swaddle your baby entirely to change her diaper. Another feature of the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe is that it can be used on the baby even when traveling in a car seat.

There are quite a few swaddlers on the market, but due to the positive reviews and the price of the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe I decided to give this one a try. This product worked rather well with my baby. It stayed put once he was swaddled in it and it seemed to help him sleep better. The fabric of the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe was quite soft and even after washing the fabric still stayed soft with no pilling.

The only down side to the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe that I encountered was that my baby outgrew the product rather fast. My baby was a long baby and after about 1-2 months, he had outgrown the small size of the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe. I could have purchased the large size, but by then he was not as interested in being swaddled anymore anyways.

There are several places that you can purchase the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Adjustable Infant Wrap. I purchased mine at a local Burlington Baby Depot store. I was quite happy with the price as it was under $10.00 for this product, which I though was well worth it. At this price you can afford to buy two of these if your baby likes them. If you do not have a Burlington Baby Depot near you and you are interested in the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Adjustable Infant Wrap you can visit the official website for Kiddopotamus and find stores and online retailers that sell this product.

I would definitely recommend the Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Adjustable Infant Wrap to other parents with newborns or who are expecting a new baby. The product is quite easy to use and is safe for your baby.

I wish they had these when mine were babies (if they did, I didn't know about them). It was always a challenge to keep them swaddled in a receiving blanket.
