Product Review: Kleer Drain, a Green Way to Unclog Drains .... Or Not?
Will the Kleer Drain Unclog Your Drain? Or, Will it Force You to Call a Plumber?
Kleer Drain - Effectiveness
As promised, it shot a burst of air into my clogged drain. Something went amiss because instead of unclogged drains, I ended up with a broken garbage disposal - and my drains were still clogged. The Kleer Drain failed to deliver it's promise to clear my drains.
Kleer Drain - The Smell
You're probably asking yourself, "This is a product review, so why comment about the smell?" I'm commenting about the Kleer Drains smell because it was so over powering and awful! There was no odor while it was in the packaging. But as soon as I took it out of the package, the smell was so bad that it made me sick!
I couldn't even keep it in the house -- I kept it in the garage. Even the paper that the insturctions were printed on smelled really b-a-d! It made everything smell like I was in a rubber factory. Yep, it was that bad. So if you're sensitive to odors, I'd pass on the Kleer Drain. Green technology, environmentally friendly or not, It's just not worth the smell.
Kleer Drain - Instructions
The Kleer Drain comes in two pieces. You have to screw the round shape onto the stick. When fully assembled, it looks like a large cross with a rubber base that goes into the clogged drain. The assembly was easy.
After assembly, the Kleer Drain came with canisters of compressed air and "power circles" (a fancy name for some type of special paper, cut into circles, that would increase the power of the Kleer Drain to unclog the drain.) I had a hard time deciding whether or not I needed any "extra power" -- and my choices were to use the Kleer Drain (1) without any extra "power" (no extra papers), (2) with just a bit "more power" (using one extra paper), or (3) using it at maximum strength (with two pieces of paper).
Kleer Drain - Ease of Use
Stand and place the Kleer Drain into opening of the clogged drain. Hold the handles, press down. That part was easy!
The Kleer Drain might even do a darned good job of cleaning out a clogged drain in your bathroom or a clogged toilet. But don't use it in a sink with a garbage disposal. Environmentally friendly and green technology products have their place...just not in my kitchen.
Kleer Drain - Where to Buy
You can find the Kleer Drain at hardware stores or for sale online. You won't find it at your local Target, KMart or Walmart.
Kleer Drain - Product Rating
Overall, I rate the Kleer Drain 1 out of 10 stars.
Does Kleer Drain clear clogged drains? Not at my house. I thought it was overpriced, smelled awful (I'm not kidding...the smell was that bad!!!), and, green technology or not, instead of getting rid of the clogged drain, it broke my disposal! I was too embarrased to tell the plumber what I had done. Fortunately, he was able to unclog the drain, replace my garbage disposal, and didn't break a thing!
Oh, and the plumber didn't smell either.

Post a Commenti want to no who came out with this i bust my pipes and im looking at a couple thousand to get it fixed i need someone to get in contack with me cant get on your website
Who wants to call a plumber every single time you have a drain clog? No other drain products are worth a darn. Like Leon I can't find the cartridges any more, but I havent tried on line yet. If I find them I will buy a ton. I don't know what you are talking about with the smell.
I bought kleer drain drain opener and it worked great!
The problem is I need the refill kits and cannot find any. I bought mine at home depot but they do not sell it anymore. I called the Kleer Drain company to ask for refills but keep getting some womens voicemail. I leave a message and phone number to find out where I can buy refills but no one calls me back. Guess I will through it away. DO NOT BUY THIS
Terrible product!! The first time I used it to unclog my toilet (in NJ we have to have water saver toilets, less pressure and less water) it worked great and I had the cup upside down and didn't use a power patch--used 1 cartridge. The last 2 times I used 3 cartridges and nothing--I ended up using the hand plunger.
Don't buy it.....
Patty, you're back at AC. I missed you. Looking forward to more of your articles.
ROFL, Thanks for the honest account of your experience with this product.
