Product Review: Konad Stamping Nail Art

Beckie Yoon
For all of the nail lovers out there who enjoy decorating their nails, Konad offers a Do-It-Yourself Nail Art Stamping Kit that allows you to decorate your nails easily with different designs and shapes. Basically, the package offers a scraper, nail polish, a rubber stamping device, and a template for approximately $20. You can visit their website at www.konadnail.com for more information and details on their product.

Basically, all you have to do is apply the nail polish that they include with you in the package onto the template, scrape off the excess nail polish, and use the stamp to transfer the design on the template onto your nails. The designs should be sealed with a top coat, and each design should last roughly 2 to 3 weeks. Basically, you can use this template for many things like even decorating hard surfaces. You do have to remember to clean the tools and the templates with nail polish remover.

While this is a great idea, and the demo that I saw did a great job in doing the work, I would say that it takes a lot of experience and practice to get the hang of it. Personally, I don't even understand how to fully use it, and I screw up the designs half of the time wasting a lot of precious nail polish. The box says to only use the Konad nail polish, but Konad offers nail polish in a very small bottle. Actually trying to make it work is very frustrating, and to me, I usually do not get the results that I desire. I have seen a live demonstration of this package by a Konad representative, and her designs came out perfectly. I guess practice makes perfect. Personally, for me, I would say that it is not as easy to use as it claims to be, and can often be a lot more trouble and mess than you may have anticipated.

Once you get a hang of it though, the designs that you can get are awesome, and it is a lot more effective and easy than drawing the designs out by hand with a small brush, and nail polish. There are many different templates and designs that are offered by Konad, and one metal template already has eight different designs on them that are extremely cute with a different theme behind it.

The product lasts for a long time, and you can use the template, scraper, and stamp for as long as you wish as long as you take good care of it by cleaning it, and keeping it in a safe spot. The nail polish that Konad offers does not smell at all, and it actually will stick to your nail fairly easy which makes stamping them a lot easier. In fact, once applied, it doesn't seem to chip off or smudge off. It dries quickly, and is a great nail polish to use.

Konad offers a lot of different colored nail polish as well so you can definitely decorate your nails. For those who are interested in nail art, this package is definitely for you as long as you master the skills of using it; however, for beginners like me who are not as interested in taking a lot of time learning how to master the whole package, this nail art stamping kit may not be for you. It's not as easy as you think, and can be fairly frustrating. It's not worth the $20 you have to shell out if you are not going to use it all.

The whole package can be quite messy as you are working with nail polish and will have to work with a lot of excess nail polish; thus, if you are going to try, find a clean environment with a hard surface that you can easily remove nail polish off of or lay out some newspapers before trying them.

If you can master using it easily, this package is definitely for you because it makes nail art that much more easy and effective to do. For those who are in the nail industry, the templates give you exact pictures, and will make your time easier. However, for some people like me, I would not advice getting the Konad Nail Art Stamping package no matter how tempting it is because mastering how to use it is already a headache!
