There are a number of different types of foundation on the market, the primary ones being liquid, powder and a type called duo. Foundation is a key item in any woman's makeup kit. Photogenic is of the powder variety, and it provides a great alternative to the "porcelain doll" look of the liquid foundation. It evens out your complexion and gives your skin a healthy and glowing appearance.
If you don't use a foundation of good quality, none of your other makeup is going to look good. It primes your face like a canvas, waiting for a palette of sensuous colors to transform it. It's one of the best investments you can make. I have found that if I begin with a good foundation, I can often scale down in terms of price on the other makeup that goes on top of it, such as blush and eye shadow. This foundation retails for $34, but if you view it as an investment, it's a pretty good deal.
I have been using this product for about five years now. I love it because it solves so many problems for me. I'm a working mom, and I have neither the time to apply, nor money to spend, on ten or fifteen different beauty products for my face. So I just use a handful of them. I use an SPF-15 moisturizer, Lancôme Photogenic foundation, blush, eye shadow, lip gloss and that's it. I don't want to spend too much time in front of the mirror, and I don't want to look like I just walked away from the cosmetics counter, either.
Photogenic's main virtue is its versatility. Because it is a powder, you can control how much you put on your face. If you want to just tone down the shine, you can do that. If you want to get dressed for a party and you really want your skin to glow, you can apply it a little more heavily. It all depends on what you need at the moment.
Photogenic comes with a cute little makeup pad, but the best way to apply it is with one of those great big blush brushes. That way you'll get a more even, finished look. The interior of the jar is amazing. After you unscrew the lid, you will notice a plastic interior cover with a series of tiny square holes in the middle. This is to facilitate application of the foundation, which would probably go everywhere if the piece wasn't in place. It works like a charm, too.
Lancôme specializes in creating dramatic, sensuous makeup, and it's the easiest way to get noticed that I can think of. Think of all of the great French movie stars - seductive; alluring; well-behaved; understated, yet impossible to ignore. That's Lancôme's specialty, and it's something you can use to your best advantage. Definitely worth a try!
