Product Review: Lawry's Asian Style Beef and Broccoli Spices & Seasonings
Great for that Authentic Asian Dish
While grocery shopping on Saturday, I discovered a packet of seasonings I had not seen before. In the soups, sauces and other seasonings aisle where I generally find envelopes of my favorite brands of powdered gravy mixes, taco seasonings and others, I saw a new group of envelopes. Lawry's had two new envelopes displayed. It was hard to select from the two, but I finally chose the Asian Style Beef & Broccoli to test first.
Thinking that I might not like the taste, I hesitated for a few minutes but then decided to give it a try. The instructions on the back of the envelope seemed simple enough and I had all the other "All You Need" items already in my freezer and pantry.
When I visit the mall, I often select to eat at the Food Court. The Asian restaurant offers this same entree along with two sides for a little over $7. The packet cost me a little over $2. With the added ingredients, I prepared a meal for 4 for a little less than $3 per person.
When purchasing this envelope, you also need to make sure you have the following additional items:
Oil (2 tbsp for the dish)
Broccoli Florets ( 4 cups for the dish)
Beef Sirloin Steak Strips (1 Lb for the dish)
Soy Sauce (2 tbsp for the dish)
Water (1 1/4 cup for the dish)
One packet of the AB&B makes 4 servings.
Nutrition Facts: Each serving equates to 25 calories with a serving providing 15% of your daily requirement of sodium, total fat 0%, 2% total carbohydrates, 1 gram of proteins and 1 gram of sugar.
This dish, after following the directions exactly as indicated, was excellent. I must say, sometimes when purchasing this same entree from the Authentic Asian mall restaurant, their dish has been less than satisfying. This dish prepared in my home, by me was exceptionally good.
In addition to the entree with the Broccoli Florets, I added a side of white rice and corn bread. I would recommend this one to anyone wanting to place a fairly simple, quick and delicious meal in less than an hour on the table. I had a few extra packets of the John Soule Angus Steak Beef Strips in my freezer so, I cut the time by maybe five minutes. In addition, I added a fresh from the oven pan of Jiffy Muffin corn bread to the meal.
