Product Review: Lentek 6-Day Automatic Pet Dish

Going on vacation when you have pets can be a problem because you either need to hire a pet sitter or bring them to a kennel. If you have a cat, you may want to consider buying an automatic pet feeder instead so that the cat can take care of itself while you are gone. The Lentek 6-Day Automatic Pet Dish will allow you to go on vacation for a week and know your pet will be fed. This product can be purchased for $30 from amazon.com.

The automatic pet dish will hold 2/3 of a cup of dry food or 5 and a half ounces of wet food. I prefer to use dry food with it because I do not like leaving wet food sitting out for so long. It can be set so that it will automatically rotate to the next compartment after 6, 12, or 24 hours. You will need to set it for 24 hours if you will be gone for a week.

I use this dish even when I am at home with my pets because it cuts down on the amount of work I need to do each day. I fill the dish at the beginning of the week and my pet is automatically fed for the next six days. This is also nice because my cat no longer comes in and wakes me up on days that I want to sleep in because he knows he will be fed by the dish at the same time every day.

I am satisfied with the way the product has held up over months of use. My cat scratches and claws at it to get to the rest of the food sometime but the dish is still in one piece and works. However, there are some scratch marks in the plastic from his claws. There is a safety mechanism that stops the top from turning if it feels any resistance so I don't have to work about my cat getting his paws or nose stuck in it.

The dish runs on a 9-volt battery which has lasted for about six months and is still going strong. It would be more convenient to use AA's but I appreciate that it does not need to be plugged in.

A thing to keep in mind if you will be going on vacation is that there is no way to set the timer. If you want it to feed your cat at 6am every morning, you will need to start it at 6am before you leave for your trip.
