Now seriously, I'm actually nicely proportioned for a lady. My shoulders and hips are the same width and my waist is small. If you are similarly shaped or even pear shaped, you know what I mean when I say it's almost impossible to find jeans that fit off the rack.
That is until I stumbled upon my now favorite, wont be caught in any other brand or style jeans - Levis 515. These are the perfect jeans for women with small waists and bountiful hips. Thankfully over the past several years my size has gotten smaller, but the fit is still great - no alterations required. These jeans provide lower rise (not too low) which, is great because I don't want to be on the next Saturday Night Live "Mom Jeans" skit. If you are still wearing those high-rise jeans, the fashion police will indeed catch you someday.
Levis 515's are ample in the hip and thigh region while coming back out at the knee with a boot cut leg. They fit closely but not too closely to the body to create a nice silhouette. This is actually the most flattering look for a woman of hourglass shape like myself or pear shapes as well. Even the models with their narrow hips look good in them. Are they real?
With these jeans, you don't have to worry about the muffin top provided you are wearing your actual size and not deluding yourself into thinking you're a six when you should actually wear a ten. No, I will not reveal my size, but I will tell you that I have several pair in various washes and shades of dark blue. They come in three size inseams: small, medium and large (for all you tall women out there - I hate you- just kidding). They are great for everyday or throw on a pair of hot heels and accessorize and you're ready for date night. You know, date night, when you go somewhere like the movies or dinner without the children. Levis 515's run around $44 retail, which is reasonable, however I often get them on sale for less. Stock up when you can because every mom needs a proper uniform.
They are indeed the perfect 21st century mom jean. My husband gives them two thumbs up and by all the assistance offered to me while shopping by the store salesmen, I would guess they do too. What can I say, it's nice to be noticed and I'm short so it helps when you can't reach the top shelf.
