Product Review: LIME-A-WAY Lime-Calcium-Rust

Sophie Adams
LIME-A-WAY Lime-Calcium-Rust remover claims to effectively remove hard water build-up and rust on surfaces around the home.

I must say I have been a big fan of CLR. I previously did a review on this product. Click here to see it. I have made several trips to the store and each time there was no CLR for me to purchase so I was forced to purchase what I knew might worked and recall that it worked great in the past on my toilets.

This is a green spray bottle that includes Dura Guard to prevent stains from setting in. The back of the bottle states, "easily removes stains caused by the natural minerals in your water. It effectively cleans the toughest hard water stains and leaves a protective coating, so that surfaces stay cleaner for longer."

You should spray LIME-A-WAY directly on your product and let it set for at least five minutes. I used this on my kitchen sink. Minerals and hard water stains started developing around my faucet and I had water stains. My sink is stainless steel. (I used to use a brillo pad and worked a little but not like this). After it sat for about 10 minutes, I used the same scrub brush I use to scrub the dishes before putting it in the dishwasher. I was truly amazed when everything broke lose very easy. There wasn't a slimy residue, and no leftover buildup. The only thing left for me was a shine. I was so amazed at how fast and easy this was and absolutely NO elbow grease.

LIME-A-WAY Lime-Calcium-Rust remover works well on toilets. Just spray the inside of the toilet, walk away for a few minutes, pull out your scrub brush and gently wipe off any hard water deposits. You won't need to let this product set if you're just doing your general cleaning but if you have tough stains, this is definitely the product to use.

There is a note not to use this product on natural marble, stone, terrazzo, polished or anodized aluminum, metallic or ceramic tile. Avoid contact with wood, fabric and wallpaper.

It is recommended that you use rubber gloves when working with LIME-A-WAY Lime-Calcium-Rust remover. Keep the area well ventilated.

I highly recommend LIME-A-WAY Lime-Calcium-Rust remover for anyone who does their own cleaning. Professionals should use this product too if they need to make a purchase in a hurry.

When Lime Away was first introduces in the 1970's it was amazing. A real real break through in cleaning built-up calcium deposits in the kitchen and bath. Somehow, between then and now, the formula was changed rendering the the product completely useless. Their ads are false and the positive reviews here are pure lies. THIS PRODUCT DOESN'T WORK - DON'T BUY IT!!!!

I have a problem with the Lime-A-Way commercial. It shows a woman lying infront of a child about how she injured her arm. The woman in the end admits to another woman that it was an injury due to hard water build up. I believe this sends the wrong message to children, that it is okay to lie.

lime-a-way doesn't work. I tried it several times and it simply wouldn't remove any stains. I strongly suggest you don't ever buy it.

I had the same thing happen to me! Brand new fridge with one drip line of Lime-Away down it. Have you found a way to get it off yet??? Please email me: adambeth.gamble@comcast.net.
    Thanks so much!

I think you should be aware of the fact that your product is not labeled well enough. I used it to clean my ice maker and when my daughter got water the next time it ran down the front of my refrigerator which is Stainless Steel and totally ruined it. I would like to be compensated for the door by your company. Please relable your bottles . Frustrated customer!!!!! This is going to cost me 500.00 or the pain of looking at it each and every day.

I am a metal artist, and I use LimeAway to polish bronze jewelry pieces. I don't use the spray, but only the liquid, and soak the jewelry pieces in LimeAway for a few hours. The bronze will turn pink if it stays too long. I am very careful, never putting my fingers into the solution, and rinsing it off very carefully. But it polishes it beautifully. My complaint: that the ingredients are not put on every bottle of this type of corrosive product. If I bought something a year ago of a similar nature, how do I know its the same stuff that I'm buying today? All those types of products need to have the ingredients printed clearly on the container. I'm happy to talk to anyone about it. 828-298-0430 or
