Product Review: Logitech's Optical Notebook Mouse

Logitech's Optical Notebook Mouse is a handy product that has served me well. The mouse is quite inexpensive for $14 and does great at its job.

The mouse is compact but it is not one of those mini travel mice. I travel with mine all the time and do not find that it is too large to carry but it is also comfortable to use for long amounts of time because of its larger size. The cord wraps around a slot in the base and the plug clips into the bottom of the mouse to prevent the cord from coming lose. I love this feature because it keep the mouse cord from getting all tangled up in my bag. The last thing anyone needs is a mess of wires to deal with.

This mouse is very easy to get set up and begin using. It comes with software that you can install onto your computer to make it work even better but I did not feel the need to. You simply need to plug the mouse into a USB port on your computer. My Vista laptop worked with it with no problems, which is saying a lot because not many things work with Vista without a problem. It is meant to be compatible with both PC and Mac.

I really like that it has an optical sensor instead of the balls like the old mice had. This way, no mouse pad is needed which makes it nice for travel or using in class. It tracks very smoothly on most surfaces I have used it on. It is shock resistant which makes it great for using in the car because it can ignore bumps and potholes.

I liked this mouse so much that when my first one stopped working I bought the same one again. The reason my first one stopped working is because my roommate always swung it around in a circle by its cord while I wasn't home and the cord wore out. It was two and a half years old at the time and I'm sure it would have continued to work had I not had a roommate who enjoyed being abusing to computer mice. I do, however, drop my new one on the ground constantly because I am clumsy and it has stood up to me very well in the past eight months.

This is a great, inexpensive product that works as it was designed to. I would recommend this mouse to anyone who is looking to do normal, everyday things with their mouse and needs it to be portable as well.
