Product Review: L'Oreal's Sublime Mousse Permanent Hair Color

Monica Bullock
I will admit it--I am a color junkie! I have colored my hair longer that I should admit. My hair experiments have included blonde, brown and even black shades. Friends and family have seen me with pink and purple streaks. The problem is the whole process is messy, smelly and takes forever. I was so excited to see a mousse hair color that could get the job done in less time.

I found L'Oreal's Sublime Mousse Permanent Hair Color easily at my local pharmacy. I was surprised to see only a few colors available but I found the one I was looking for: 90 Pure Light Blonde. The packaging was impressive. I liked the swanky pink color and the boutique style box. But you and I both know, it's what's inside that matters most. L'Oreal's Sublime Mousse cost me around $10 only a dollar more than what I normally buy.

When I opened the package, I was expecting the mousse to be already prepared but there was some assembly involved. I broke out the gloves and the directions began putting my mousse hair color together.

The components were numbered like other L'Oreal products so it was easy to put together. I brushed out my hair and began applying the mousse.

The smell was great! There were no offensive odors and I did not have to hide out in the bathroom. My kids usually comment about the smell but not with the mousse. It was actually pleasant to smell.

The mousse was easy to apply and following the instructions, I put the mousse on the gray patches first then the rest of my hair. For the next 30 minutes, I paced around and stared at my hair in the mirror. I could so no obvious changes like I normally would. There was no heating on my head and no discolored clothing. I was glad, but concerned. Could it work without destroying my towels, clothes and bathroom rugs?

Yes! Absolutely! I love this product. It worked wonderfully, covering the gray and the heinous residue color I had previously put on my hair. It rinsed cleanly and the conditioner they included smelled like coconuts.

This is my dream hair color. I'll be using it again and I would recommend it to anyone looking to try something new in the comfort of their own home.
