Product Review: Magellan 2045 Car GPS Receiver

Me and my best friend decided to go on a fishing trip this past weekend up in the northern part of the state. I was trying to get a page of directions off the internet just in case we needed them. I went ahead and printed them off and tool them with me. When I got into the car, I told him that I had directions to the lake. We laughed at me and told me he has a GPS receiver. I knew of them but I am a little bit behind on all this new technology. I was surprised at this small device as it told him every turn that he needed to make. I told him that I was going to check out all the extra features out so I would gain some knowledge about the product. As for this GPS device, it has some great features.

The Magellan 2045 GPS has the voice recognition system that speaks every turn you need to make on your trip. This would be handy to anyone that is driving to a place that they are not familiar with. This GPS maps out the exact distance you will travel during your trip. It gives you plenty of warning before your next turn so you don't have to rush to the correct lane. You will never be in the wrong lane again with the lane assistance feature. It shows the actual road signs that are placed along the route so you will never choose the wrong lane again. This comes in handy to anyone that is traveling the big cities that have five to six lanes. You don't have to take your eyes off the road trying to read signs or look at a map anymore when you have this GPS system. Anyone that travels through the big cities should consider buying this device.

The Magellan 2045 is a touchscreen GPS. One touch of the screen gives you access to all the special features the GPS has to offer. My favorite feature of all is the favorite menu. The favorite menu gives you access to all your personal choices of favorite places to eat or stay. It will search anywhere that you have traveled before. So if you go somewhere and you enjoy the food, you can bookmark the place into your GPS device. By doing this, you can easily remember the place just in case you ever come back in that area. You can do the same for a special retreat or a great hotel. This really comes in handy for someone that travels a lot. It can also come in handy for someone that likes to dine out. In all, it is really a cool and helpful feature.

Another cool feature on this GPS is the AAA tour-book feature. Once again, it is a great feature for the everyday traveler. We enjoy eating anywhere that has a good steak. We get to the city and he enters the restaurant in the GPS. In seconds, we pull up the ratings of the steakhouse and multiple descriptions of the restaurant. This feature would come in handy to anyone. I will say that the ratings will very and it is best to make your own assumption. Not only does it give you ratings for restaurants, it gives you ratings for events, places to stay, and more. So if you are not sure about a specific place, you can access this feature to get some ratings and information about it.

This GPS also provides real-time traffic information. This is a very great feature, especially if you live in the city. You can use this feature to access secondary roads to get through stopped traffic. This can come in handy for anyone that has deadlines. It also has the AAA member roadside assistance feature. It will show your exact location on the GPS and it shows you AAA phone numbers. This feature will allow you some sense of security if your break down in your automobile.

The Magellan 2045 GPS comes with preloaded maps of the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. It came with a one year warranty. It also comes with a battery, car power adapter, a windshield mount, and a mini USB cable.

In all, I really like this GPS and I plan on buying one for myself. We never had to look at a map on our fishing trip. I will say that the voice command can sometimes get annoying. But other then that, I can't say one bad thing about it.
