The first product I used was the Mary Kay foundation ($14 for 1oz.). I smeared the product on my face with a damp wedge applicator, as recommended by multiple beauty magazines. The color smoothed over my skin, giving it medium coverage.
I must admit, I didn't like it at first. My face didn't look the way a "made up face" was supposed to look. Some may like the minimal (or natural) coverage, but I did not. I could still see my skin flaws peeking through.
The next time I used it, I applied it with my fingers. The application came out smoother and had more coverage than before. But this time my skin felt drier and looked pale and ashy. I then realized I hadn't put on any moisturizer before use.
The third time I used it, I prime my face with lotion, then smeared the foundation on my face with my fingers. The coverage and color was evenly distributed.
What's great about this foundation is that it looks more natural over time. Once it sets in your skin for a while, it combines with your natural oils, and actually blends in with your skin. The coverage remains the same, but the color begins to look more natural.
Next up is the dual coverage powder. This is a creamy powder foundation that is supposed to give you the coverage of a liquid foundation and a powder foundation all in one.
I was amazed by this product. It has such a smooth, creamy, powdery feel. And the application is heavenly. Because it has a slightly creamy formula, powder doesn't fly everywhere when you're applying it with a makeup brush. The coverage is great, and does just like the foundation-it becomes natural looking over time.
I would recommend BOTH of these products-especially for those who want full coverage foundations. These are a tad bit expensive, but they are worth every penny. And a little goes a long way. It'll last a while, so don't be afraid to make the purchase. Order form the Mary Kay website, or from your MK beauty consultant.
