I tried out the product and was thoroughly impressed. Application is very convenient, as you can use a sponge if you wish but you can also apply it using your fingertips when you're on the go and don't have the luxury of time or your bedroom dresser to work with. There's no need to wet your face either; the foundation spreads smoothly over a dry face. The finish is very silky and smooth, and it's very light, too, without the annoying, clingy feeling you get with most other foundations. It's very easy to blend, too, so that you get even coverage all over your face. There's no caking, too, like Maybelline promises, and one application is more often than not enough to get me through the day. Not to mention its whipped texture makes it a lot of fun to apply!
The Dream Matte Mousse foundation, though, does not work very well on oily skin. Application of it on normal skin gives a bit of the natural, greased appearance so your skin doesn't look very dry, and it works perfectly this way in giving you that natural, toned look. On oily skin, though, this could be disastrous. This aside, my only complaint would be that the mousse starts caking in the container after some time. This isn't much of a problem anyway because it doesn't affect the texture or performance of the mousse when applied, but it can get a bit messy when carelessly open your jar of foundation to have clumps of the stuff all over the place. Another downside to this is that it is difficult to mix foundation tones that way you do with liquid foundations so that you come up with the perfect tone desired. You can't blend different mousses to end up with a personalized hue; you have to make do with the available colors that Maybelline has put out.
The Dream Matte Mousse line has been a very creative and revolutionary product from Maybelline, and it's become quite popular that they've come up with Mousse versions of their other products, like blush, eye shadow, and bronzer, all of which I'm eager to try out.
