Product Review: Method Daily Shower Cleaner Spray

A few years ago, I discovered the Method brand of cleaning products at my local store and I fell in love. Method products are made out of biodegradable ingredients that are better for the environment than most major cleaning products. Method also refuses to test on animals, a stance which not many cleaning products manufacturers are taking these days. I use Method cleaning products for most tasks in my home, and I've never been disappointed.

Recently, I discovered some nasty mildew growing on my shower walls and in my bathtub, so I headed to Target to see if there were any good products available to help me get rid of it. I noticed Method Daily Shower Cleaner which came in a decent sized spray bottle for $4.99. The idea was to spray the walls of the shower every day when you were getting out, and over the course of a couple of weeks, as the product did its work, your shower would get "magically" cleaner. I was a bit skeptical of these claims at first, but for fewer than five bucks I thought it was worth it to give it a try, so I went ahead and bought a bottle.

The first day I used the Method Daily Shower Cleaner, I was quite surprised at how much of the product was dispensed with just one spray. I tried to adjust the spray nozzle, but it seems as though no matter where I set it a large amount of cleaner came out with each spray. The Method Daily Shower Cleaner had a fresh, slightly melon scent so it wasn't a problem to use it every day in my small bathroom. Now it was just a matter of whether or not the Method cleaner would actually tidy up my shower as promised.

So I waited....and waited. And waited some more. Four weeks later, my shower walls were not noticeably cleaner and I had used up the entire bottle of Method Daily Shower Cleaner. In the end, I used a scrub brush and some Soft Scrub to remove the mildew from my shower walls, which is what I probably should have done in the first place. Although I am a big fan of the Method cleaning product line, I would not recommend the Method Daily Shower Cleaner. The nozzle makes the product go quickly, and in the end you'll probably end up having to clean the "old fashioned" way.

  • The Method Daily Shower Cleaner is available for $4.99 per bottle at Target.
  • I found that the spray nozzle caused too much of the cleaner to be released.
  • In the end, Method Daily Shower Cleaner did not rid my shower of mildew.
Method products are environmentally friendly and never tested on animals.
