Misto Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayer Review: Design
The Misto sprayer is about the same size and shape as your typical kitchen oil sprayer can, although it might be a bit smaller than the jumbo ones. It is a beautiful brushed metal finish, which will fit in with any metal appliances you may have. The brand label shows prominently on a band between the cap and the base, which can be a little annoying sometimes, but is not a huge issue.
Misto Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayer Review: Ease of Use
It is incredibly simple to fill and use your Misto Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayer on a regular basis. The lid screws off and you can pour any kind of oil you want into the chamber, filling it no more than half full because there needs to be some space to build up air pressure.
The lid fits snugly on top, and you pump it a few times to build up pressure before spraying out oil. A fully pressurized Misto container will spray oil for about 15 seconds, which is plenty of time for just about any kitchen job. If you need more, it is easy to put the lid on and give it a few more pumps to build up more pressure in the chamber.
Misto Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayer Review: Availability and Price
Although it was tough for a few years to find a Misto, they are readily available online and in stores now. They cost about $10 per sprayer, depending on where you buy them, and they will last for many years, so they pay for themselves in the cost of buying disposable olive oil sprayers.
A quick google search will turn up a number of online retailers that sell Misto Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayers, and just about any kitchen supply store will sell them as well. I purchased mine at Bed Bath & Beyond, but I have seen them in many other stores.
Misto Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayer Review: Best Uses
Aside from spraying pans with olive oil before frying mushrooms, onions, or chicken breasts, you will find a number of other uses for your Misto sprayer. If you are baking anything in the oven, from potatoes to drying tomatoes and roasting vegetables, a quick spray of olive oil will keep them moist and juicy while baking.
In addition, because you get to put whatever you want in the oil sprayer, you can also make flavored oils such as garlic oil for garlic bread, or an herb oil for seasoning vegetables after cooking them. Use your imagination and experiment, because it is very easy to soak your Misto sprayer and get any flavor residue out of a container after you are done with that kind of oil.
