Product Review: Munchkin Bath Letters and Numbers
Bath Time is Learning Time with the Munchkin Bath Letters and Numbers
My baby loves her baths, but she also loves to have some kind of entertainment during a bath. We bought the Munchkin Bath Letters and Numbers to give her something to look at as well as a way to learn as she grows. I'm a believer in starting early with reading and know from experience that kids can learn to read if they are exposed to words and letters often at a young age.
When I first put up the Munchkin Bath Letters and Numbers for my baby, they were a big hit! The 26 foam letters and 10 foam numbers stick to the tub wall when they are wet. For the most part they stay put, although one or two will slide now and then and I just have to re-wet them. Since my baby is young, I don't put the whole alphabet on the wall every bath. Instead I just make a word of the day! Each bath I pick out enough letters to spell a word and put it up on the wall for her. I explain the word, she looks at each letter closely and points at the letters when I talk about them.
As she gets older, she will be able to make her own words using the letters and bath time will be even MORE fun! The Munchkin Bath Letters and Numbers aren't recommended for kids under 3, because if they eat them, they may choke. However I never leave my baby alone in the bath, and she's also not allowed to touch these right now - just look at them - so it's not a concern for me. As she gets older I know they are soft and bendy so I don't have to worry about the letters hurting her in anyway.
After a bath, I'm sometimes amazed how long the letters will stick! One night I forgot to take them off and the next morning most of the letters were still stuck to the wall where I left them. Even though they stick so well when wet, they do not feel sticky in the least. When finished using them, all I have to do is take them down and put them away with her other bath toys. They dry on their own and are ready to reuse next bath.
The Munchkin Bath Letters and Numbers are a great learning toy. Whether you are trying to give a baby a head start, or trying to help a kindergartner learn some new words, for under $10 you can't go wrong with this. I'm considering buying another set so I can spell longer words in the future. Enjoy!!
