Product Review: Munchkin Wipe Warmer

Brittany Ryan
A wipe warmer is usually on "Products You Don't Actually Need" list. Do you need it? No, not necessarily. However, this is a product I used daily for my daughter, and I'm sure she appreciated it. We live in a centrally heated building, and the bedrooms don't have vents. While we keep the doors open so the bedrooms usually get pretty warm from the heat coming from other rooms, occasionally it gets a bit chilly. We use a space heater during these occasions, but this doesn't help the wipes.

After a week of my daughter shrieking during diaper changes if the wipes were cold, I went out and bought this product. So far, I love it. It keeps the wipes warm and moist, and if they ever start to feel a bit dry, it's easy to just pour a cup of water over them. Also, you can open the warmer two ways: through a smaller top lid that dispenses wipes, or a larger lid, in case your wipes don't pop up (I made the mistake of buying these kind once - not a huge issue but a bit of an inconvenience).

There is also a small light on the front for nighttime changes, although this feature never made a difference for me, as we have a small nightlight in our daughter's room that provides enough light.

The warmer is easy to disconnect from the power cord, in case you want to move the warmer to another room to do a diaper change, and then plug it back in later. This way you don't have to unplug the entire thing from the wall.

So while a wipe warmer may not necessarily be a must-have baby item, I had no problem spending the $20 or so to make my daughter's diaper changes a little better for her.
