Product Review - NARS Orgasm Blush

A Best of Sephora Award Winner in 2007, and a winner of multiple other awards, Nars Orgasm Blush is touted by makeup artists and fashion magazines alike as being one of the few blushes that will match every skin tone, and look wonderful on any woman who wears it. Intrigued by all the hype, and the rave reviews of many of my friends, I decided to try it out for myself. I have to admit, I rather liked the product name, too!

At $25.00, this is a rather expensive blush. It is packaged in an unpretentious, but quite nice rubberized black compact with the letters "NARS" printed across the top. Once opened, you see a mirror on the inside of the hinged lid, and a pan full of blush. There is no brush, but then I have never known of any cosmetic company that puts a good-enough brush in their products.

The color you see is a blend of peachy apricot and pink, with a faint gold shimmer. It goes on very evenly and smoothly with a good natural bristle blush brush, so it seems to be a very finely milled product. It takes very little of the Orgasm to create a natural and pretty look. A mere tapping of your brush into the product is sufficient. One swipe creates a glowing, sheer flush of color that looks very natural and believable in daylight - even with the gold sparkles. They are subtle, and do not show up so much with a light application.

Since the product is definitely buildable, you can layer on more to get a beautiful darker pink shimmer. NARS Orgasm never looks overdone! No matter how much of this blush you layer on, you are unable to create a "clown" face, something that a lot of women are unconscious of doing. The color stays very true, never changing to that orangey tone that so many blushes seem to revert to. The sheerness of the product makes it very versatile.

How natural the product will look on your face depends on how heavily you apply it, making it perfect for everyday or evening dress-up wear. It is quite a long-lasting product, both on the face and in the container. It wears well all day and into the night. I have been using the same compact nearly every day for 9 months, and it barely looks as if it has been used at all. When you take that into consideration, the price seems a lot more reasonable.

This product more than lived up to all the raves I have heard about it, and I must say that I think it is well worth the price! It seems to match any other eye or lip colors I may choose, and even seems to always blend in beautifully with whatever clothing I am wearing. I know of no other blush that can do this for me! NARS Orgasm will always be a staple in my makeup case.
