Product Review: Natural Butter Lip Shimmer

There are so many eco-friendly products that pop up all over the US, it was getting so hard to keep track. I obviously lost track long, long time ago. But, there was one product that I had to try though. It's Natural Butter Lip Shimmer by Sally Hansen.

It was just everywhere where I went and too hard to miss. So, even though it was a bit expensive for a shimmer lip balm, I fell for its cute packaging and 94% natural ingredients and just couldn't pass it on!

The one that I have is in the color Instinct and it is a light pink color with maybe more peach than other colors that was available. It was the most natural looking color there.

When I first tried it I was so mad because the color didn't distribute evenly throughout my lips. It was just a bit of color there and a little bit there. It was a mess! But now that I have used it for a while, I don't see that anymore. But, be warned, the color isn't all that great. I guess it's because this is supposed to be a "Revitalizing Care with Subtle Shimmer," as described in sallyhansen.com. So, in terms of color, this is very sheer and not all that great. But, it's ok for everyday wear since it creates a very natural look, just a little better.

But, I really like the texture. It is pretty hard for a lip balm, which I love, but still applies very smoothly. The one reason that I didn't like Weleda lip balm was because it was all melty and too soft that when I apply it, too much will end up on my lips. Natural butter lip shimmer is almost exactly opposite in that sense. So, it won't melt and be all gooey just because it's been in your pocket for a few hours. You can even apply every thin if you want to, which I think is great and no lip balm I tried beat this at being hard and applying thin.

So, another important thing- does this help fix the dry, chapped lips? Not really. But this is seriously better than nothing. Since this is lip butter so I expected this to be very moisturizing but it's not that great. There are very moisturizing lip balms out there and this isn't one of them. But, it's a whole lot better than nothing and it is fine if you have regular, well-moisturized lips, but if you have seriously chapped or dry lips, use another one to get rid of the problem and then use this. Another problem is that this seriously lacks staying power so I don't think that I ever had any of this on me for longer than two hours.

So, would I buy this again? I might, the only reason being that the texture is what I have always been looking for. This doesn't get the job done in so many ways; this will never be in my top recommended lists.
