Product Review: Nestle Ice Cream: Shrek Sludge Fudge

Bridget Ilene Delaney
Explanation of the product:

The ice cream bar is one that comes on a stick in a wrapper. The wrapper is light blue on the front and a bit of a darker blue on the back. There is a picture of Shrek on the front of the wrapper which will appeal to fans of Shrek. Then, there is also a logo that says "Shrek Sludge Fudge" to the right of the package. Above that, there is a picture of the tip of one of the bars and the words state, "Fudge bars with cool green caramel center."

The ingredients and nutrition information is located on the back of the wrapper.

What the product promises:

There are not many promises. Obviously, there is the promise that this is a fudge bar and that the center is green caramel. There is also text on the wrapper that states that the bar is low fat. There is also a quality guarantee. It states, "If you are not completely satisfied with this product, please contact us with the reason, the UPC bar code, and the code numbers from the side panel of this carton. We will glady replace your purchase." Of course, this limits replacements to people who bought full cases and not just singular products.

What the product offers:

These ice cream bars melt extremely quickly. They melt quicker than the normal chocolate coated vanilla ice cream bars.

The outside is some light chocolate, but it hardly tastes like fudge. It is also a big mess. The inside is green, but it also does not taste much like caramel.

If consumers are wanting sludge, these are the ice cream bars to buy. They are definitely sludge. Perhaps they will stay frozen better if they are frozen in a colder freezer for a long time. It is hard to tell. However, coming out of the normal grocery freezer, they do not stay frozen.

Is it worth it?

No, it is not worth it. There are many better ice cream bars on the market. Even if they may not offer caramel filling, it is much better to find the containers of ice cream that are chocolate with caramel in them. These ice cream bars are way too messy.

Comments:

This product is most likely to be found in the small freezers in gas stations and video rental stores. It may also be found in a grocer's freezer.

We own a Laundromat and we sell these bars there.
I just had one and thought it was delicous!
It was so good, it stayed frozen, and the carmel was the perfect amount.
    It really hit the spot.
