Product Review: Nintendo Wii Bundle

With the fitness craze we all seem to be in, including myself, the world of video games has taken notice and is catering to us. Nintendo has a Nintendo Wii Fitness Bundle that will help you with your fitness goals while allowing you to unleash your inner gamer.

The Basics

On average, you will find the Nintendo Wii Fitness Bundle for around $150.00. You can choose from either a white or a black console, to best fit your décor scheme. The bundle will include the console, Wii motion controller and nunchuck, fitness game, Mario Kart and a Wii wheel. You can choose which fitness game you want between EA Sports Active 2 and the Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board.

Wii Fit Plus

This game allows for a customizable workout by letting you mix and match your routines. You can also choose, based on your schedule, a 20, 30 or 40 minute workout. You can also choose to focus on certain target areas, such as the arms or legs, or choose from a variety of specialized workouts focused on your specific fitness goals.

The workouts available will work off of those from the original Wii Fit and then add in six new yoga and strength training activities and 15 new balance games. This version of Wii Fit allows you to go back and forth between yoga and strength training activities.

You will be able to get an estimate of how many calories you have burned during your workout. For an added touch, you can even take advantage of the feature that allows you to weigh your dog or cat, to make sure Fluffy and Fido are in great shape too.

EA sports Active 2

This game features Total Body Tracking. This involves you wearing a heart rate monitor on your left forearm and a leg strap. These both contain motion sensors that will detect your movement so that you will not have to hold a remote or nunchuck to get through your workout.

There is a 9-week program with the game designed for complete body conditioning via progressive exercise. The game will take you through each step so that it is easy to stay on track as long as you follow the program as it is designed.

The game has a built-in journal so that you can track and monitor your progress. You will start by setting some fitness goals and this journal will help you keep track of how you are doing. You can even use this as a food journal to monitor your nutrition as well. You can also monitor and track any exercise you do outside of the game in this journal.

There are more than 70 exercises included with EA Sports Active 2 and you can choose which ones you want based on your fitness level, interests and goals.
