No Rinse Shampoo is mild, gentle, pH balanced and non-irritating, making it great for the most delicate skin even with frequent use. The Shampoo contains a relatively short list of ingredients including, Water, triethanolamine lauryl sulfate, propylene glycol, cocamidopropyl betaine, fragrance, diazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben, citric acid. It leaves hair clean and odor-free.
No Rinse Shampoo comes in plain white bottles with very little artwork -- mostly the name and a little bit of writing. Don't be deceived by the generic looking packaging; it's not a generic product and it works great.
No Rinse products have been produced since 1948 and made in the USA by CleanLife Products, which is owned by No-Rinse Laboratories, LLC, in Ohio. For more information, please visit the No-Rinse website or call them by phone at 1-800-223-9348.
Personal Experience
I first heard of No Rinse Shampoo when I was in the hospital a few years ago. I actually got to use it a few times and it seemed okay but I forgot all about it until recently.
I am disabled and now use a ventilator with an external mask, which makes it very difficult to wash my hair, especially with regular shampoo that lathers up quite a bit and takes forever to rinse, often leaving behind tiny amounts of shampoo residue that dries and looks like dandruff. Actually, for quite a while I thought I had dandruff but it turned out to be flecks of shampoo residue that were not rinsed out enough. I believe this to be the case because, after using No Rinse Shampoo a few times, there were no longer any white flecks.
It is difficult to remove my ventilator mask for extended periods of time, such as for the time required to wash my hair. I can remove it for short periods of time but need to put it back on several times before my hair is completely washed and rinsed. Lately, I have been having one person hold the mask on my face without the straps around the back of my head while the other person washes my hair. Even this is tedious at best but sometimes I don't feel well enough to endure the 10 or 15 minutes it takes to wash my hair.
No Rinse Shampoo is perfect for me because it only takes about 2 minutes to wash my hair. Afterward, it feels clean and I no longer see the white flecks.
My only concern about No Rinse Shampoo is that I don't think it is a 100% substitute for regular shampoo, but it is good for a few times a week in between uses of regular shampoo. It would also be great for use when you are sick with the flu or a cold for a few days and don't want to be bothered by the whole process of shampooing your hair.
How to Use
Simply apply enough No Rinse Shampoo until the hair is completely wet, figure on about 1 ounce. Use fingers to massage the scalp and get a little lather throughout the hair for a few minutes. Next, thoroughly dry the hair with a towel to remove the excess lather and moisture; continue until the hair is only slightly damp. Finally, allow the air to dry naturally or with the use of a hair dryer.
How Safe is It?
No Rinse Shampoo is one of the safest shampoos available and it is used by hospitals, long-term care facilities and even NASA astronauts. It is safe to use before and after a perm, on all types of hair and the pH balance affects hair coloring less than many other types of shampoo. It is also safe to use on babies because it is gentle on the skin.
Where to Buy
No Rinse Shampoo can be bought at many health supply stores or pharmacies across the Internet and in many brick-and-mortar stores. For a list of retailers, you can use the list from No Rinse. The lowest price that I have come across is the 16 ounce size of No Rinse Shampoo for $5.49 from Walgreens.
