One of the best parts of this phone would have to be the music player that allows you to listen to music while in flight because of its flight mode with dedicated music controls under the 1.63 inch bright external display. Unfortunately, you cannot download music straight to your Nokia 6263 cell phone. You have to upload music from a computer using a cable. In order to turn the music player off, you must open up the phone again, which is kind of a hassle. The other best part is the Caller ID pictures that allow you to see a picture of your caller to help you decide whether to answer the phone or not. It takes Caller ID to the next step.
The design is simple and user-friendly with dimensions of 4.1 x 1.7 x 0.7 inches and weight of 3.7 oz. that are small enough for the Nokia 6263 to be carried around in your pocket. The battery has a talk time of up to 3 hours and up to 13 days of standby time.
You have two choices on where to buy the Nokia 6263 cell phone, it all depends on what plan you want to use and if you are willing to abide by some strict rules. Either way, you have to agree to a two-year contract to get the best price. Do not forget the one-time activation fee of $35.00, which will appear on your first bill. Remember that text messaging is an additional cost.
T-Mobile.com is currently offering this phone for $129.99 with a $50 mail-in-rebate, which equals out to $79.99 if you can actually get the rebate. Their plans range from $29.99 for 300 minutes to $139.99 for 5,000 minutes on an individual plan and $59.99 for 700 minutes to $139.99 for 3000 minutes for a family plan with two lines with $9.99 per month for each additional line. Standard shipping, 2-4 business days, is free.
Amazon.com is currently offering this phone for $0.01. Their available plans range from 600 minutes for $39.99 to $139.99 for 3000 minutes for an individual plan and $59.99 for 700 minutes to $139.99 for 3000 minutes for a family plan. Standard shipping is also free but it does not provide you a delivery estimate. The reason behind the low price is that you have to abide by the following terms and conditions, according to Amazon.com:
The Price listed above for this phone includes an instant $250 discount from Amazon.com. You agree to repay this $250 discount to Amazon.com if, during the six-month period following activation, you: (1) fail to pay your balance due each month on time; (2) fail to maintain your account in good standing; (3) disconnect the line of service; (4) transfer the phone to another line of service; (5) change your service rate plan, including canceling or removing required PDA, BlackBerry, or smartphone features after your product has shipped; or (6) use this line of service to replace an existing account with the carrier. The discount is available only if you are activating a new, non-substitute line of service. If you do not follow these rules, you authorize Amazon.com to charge your credit card $250 as reimbursement of the discount without need for further approval.
So if you are willing to abide by those terms and conditions, I would go with Amazon.com but if not, just stick to T-Mobile.com. Buying a new cell phone is cheaper online than in the store for your information. The Nokia 6263 is a simple cell phone that is perfect for the average cell phone user but a bit pricey for my opinion.

Post a CommentThis is a great article, thank you. I have been considering getting the 6263 but I think I will wait until more full-featured 3G phones roll out, i.e. the next generation of semismart phones. Very informative! Don't forget that you can get similar plans and free phones as those of Amazon from LetsTalk.com without the silly contract stipulations.
Thanks for the review. I'm thinking of switching to T-Mobile, so this is helpful.
I am lucky enough to be on their $19.95 plan. I was grandfathered in as I have been with them so long.
The thing with the "flight" mode - I have a Nokia (athough I don't know what model), and it never had the flight mode until the past week or two. I noticed it while driving down to get the kids before Christmas and asked Nic where it came from, because it was never on my phone before. It must have popped up once they started letting you text message on the planes.
