Product Review: Nutrition Now Calcium Soft Chews
After being strongly advised to start taking a calcium supplement, I set out to find one I could deal with. From past failures, I knew it wouldn't be easy. Calcium supplement pills tend to be huge, and even breaking them in half doesn't make it easy for me to take them. Still I knew that I had to do something.
Determined to find a tolerable calcium supplement, I did some online research. Nutrition Now Calcium Soft Chews stood out. They came in two varieties (assorted fruit and chocolate), and they were available both online and in my local health food store. I decided to give them a try.
I bought a box of the assorted fruit, which contains orange, raspberry, and strawberry flavors. Not sure what to expect, I was quite pleased when I tasted the first chew. The other flavors also proved to be good, but my favorite is the orange. The texture reminds me of the fruity Tootsie Rolls, but the chews aren't as tangy as the candies.
Eventually, I bought a box of the chocolate variety. I tasted one but didn't care for the flavor. I tried again the next day and still didn't like it, so I gave the rest of the box to my husband. He likes them, so it worked out well.
Nutrition Now Calcium Soft Chews are soft when fresh. Once opened, the package should be sealed well to maintain their freshness.
Nutrition Now Calcium Soft Chews are a terrific way to get the calcium we all need in our diets. Each piece contains 500 mg of calcium, as well as Vitamins D and K to help with its absorption. The chews are sweetened with glucose syrup and sucrose, and each piece has 20 calories.
I paid about $10 for a box of 75 individually wrapped pieces at my local health food store. Since I take two chews every day, a box lasts me a little over a month.
