Product Review: Olay Definity Highly Defined Anti-Aging Intense Hydrating Cream

Does This Product Live Up to the Hype?

Nikki
Let's face it - no one likes looking in the mirror and seeing lines or wrinkles on their skin or age spots. The majority of people I know who are starting to notice those first laugh lines or crows feet around their eyes are not happy about the changes in their aging skin that they're seeing in the mirror.

I would guess the vast majority of us want to get rid of those fine lines and wrinkles and would love to turn back the clock about 10 years. The older we get, the more we strive to find that one perfect "fountain of youth" product that will give us younger looking skin. But with all of the thousands of products out there, it's hard to know which anti-aging skin care creams work and which ones don't.

Olay promises their Definity Highly Defined Anti-Aging Intense Hydrating Cream will target both skin wrinkles and skin discoloration, and that you'll start seeing results in 8 weeks. They also promise a money back guarantee if you're not satisfied.

So ... does Olay Definity Highly Defined Anti-Aging Intense Hydrating Cream live up to their promise to give you more luminous skin, diminish the brown spots and discoloration on your skin, even out dullness and skin tone, and reverse the appearance of past damage coming from beneath skin's surface?

Here is my experience with Olay Definity Highly Defined Anti-Aging Intense Hydrating Cream.

I've been using Olay Definity Highly Defined Anti-Aging Intense Hydrating Cream for 4 weeks and have not noticed any difference to my skin in any of the areas Olay says their product will correct. There was no reduction of wrinkles or lines, it did nothing to lessen the appearance of age spots, and my skin is no smoother or brighter than it was before I started using the product. But for the sake of argument, Olay does recommend 8 weeks of use in order to see the full effects. Although I would think I would see some tiny shred of improvement after 4 weeks of use.

I'll move on to the appearance and texture of the cream itself. The cream is very thick and leaves a slick greasy feeling on my fingers and my face. The cream does not go on very smoothly and leaves a thick heavy feel to my skin. It also does not soak in to my skin very well and makes it feel sticky. I don't like sticky skin, especially if I'm planning to use the moisturizing cream under my foundation for day wear. Sticky cream makes my foundation look blotchy. I only used this cream at night though because it does not have a built in SPF.

I also noticed some slight acne type breakouts, which I think were due to the thickness of the cream not letting my pores breathe. I'm not a scientist though and can't say that's why, but it's my personal feeling. I do not normally have a problem with breakouts.

The product also has a very strong overpowering odor and the scent lasts way too long for my liking. I do not like a scented face cream and this one is definitely powerful. If you are sensitive to scented products you might want to skip this one.

The only redeeming quality to this anti-aging cream was the cooling sensation I noticed right after applying the cream, but the overpowering scent quickly spoiled the enjoyment.

I suggest you go to the Olay website and get a free sample before investing your money on a jar of Olay Definity Highly Defined Anti-Aging Intense Hydrating Cream. You'll pay about $20.00 for a 1.7 oz. jar, which is a bit expensive to me.

I normally love Olay products but this one gets 2 thumbs way down from me.

I used it but it dried out my face. I have dry skin and it really showed my wrinkles after using it.

Oh the acne breakouts sound awful. It could be from all the irritating fragrances.

    OOps..of course, I meant "rip-OFF"!!!

I am not fond of Olay for some of the same reasons. Far too highly scented. I am having the same experience as you with many "wrinkle-away" creams. I get breakouts, my skin is either too greasy or dries out, and beware - after a few weeks your skin can actually look MORE wrinkly and red! They DO NOT WORK. What's more - they give you 30 days to get your money back for dissatisfaction, but often tell you it will be 8 weeks before you see any difference???! Can anyone say "rip-of"?

Great review. I'll stick with the regular Olay...a lot cheaper and it works!
