According to the make-up guru's and the fashionistas, deep/dark shades such as - crimson, chocolate brown, violet, plum, etc are the 'in' colours for the '08 fall/winter season.
OPI is a brand I had heard a lot about, but had never really tried any of their products. So, when they introduced their fall collection of nail colours - La Collection de France, I knew there could not be a better time to test out the brand.
OPI is one of the costiler make-up brands in the market, so I could only pick out a few colours from the La Collection de France range, although every single shade looked divine.
The colours I bought were - I'm Fondue of You, We'll Always Have Paris, and Parlez Vous OPI?
Since I am new to this brand, I was pleasantly surprised at how much durability the product has. Usually, my nail polish only lasts up to 1-2 days due to housework and constant computer usage. But after application, OPI lasted for over a week! Yes, there were a few chips here and there, but nothing a little touch up wouldn't fix.
The pro-wide brush enabled easy application of the polish over my nails, also, the polish did not streak during application, which, according to me is a huge plus point. The texture of the product was thick at first, but it thinned considerably as the polish dried. One coat of colour is usually enough, but I like to apply a second coat, in order to give it that smooth and shiny finish.
If I have to complain, I would say the polish does not dry as fast as I would like it too. I usually have to wait 15-20 minutes without touching anything in order not to smudge the nails. I find this a hassle because I am fairly used to the 'quick-dry' variety of nail polish. But since the consistency of the product is so good, this flaw can be easily overlooked.
The range of colours is great. La Collection de France comes in 12 luxurious shades. They may have funky sounding names, but the colours are some of the hottest shades of the season.
At $8.00 per 15ml bottle, the product is kind of pricey. But for a nail-polish freak like me, I considered it a good investment. As the quality, texture and staying power of OPI nail lacquer, surpasses all other brands of polishes I have used in the past.
Surely, I will not stop trying out other brands of nail varnish, but I can safely say that my first-time experience with OPI was very satisfying, and will definitely consider buying this brand again.
A must have for this season. Try it, you won't regret it!
