Product Review: Oreo Cakesters

Chocolate Creme

It is hard not to notice when a brand you know, love, and trust comes out with a new product. I was skimming my local Wal-Mart and recently and came across a fun and exciting new product from Oreo, called Oreo Cakesters. They come in two delicious varieties, Chocolate Creme and Original Oreo. This is a snack that will definitely have you pulling in multiple directions. Since they are rather small in size, you will right away want to eat at least two of them. until you look at the calories and nutrition values that is. These things certainly come packed with calories, fat, and sugar. Today I will be talking about the Chocolate Creme variety of these little snack cakes.

Packaging: The classic Oreo logo immediately catches your eye, making you want to take a closer look to see what's inside. The snack cakes themselves are twin packaged in bright orange and blue foil, assuring that these will stay nice and fresh. They do not however have any protection against a mishap such as dropping or sitting on these. So pack them in a safe place to avoid squished cakes.

Price: These are priced at about $2.50 for a box of six packs of two, breaking down to about $0.40 per serving. They are a little on the pricey side for a snack cake in comparison to those by well known brands such as Little Debbie and Mrs. Freshley's, but still priced well below Hostess.

Nutrition: At 250 calories for a regular serving size of two cakes, it might be a wise choice to cut that in half. They also carry a hefty 18% of your daily fat values. Those on a carb controlled diet would likely find this a poor snack choice at 36g of total carbohydrates. These are very kid friendly but not so mom friendly.

Taste: As soon as you open the package and catch a whiff of the chocolatey goodness, you will surely be pleased. The best product likeliness I can think of is that of Little Debbie's Fudge Rounds, only more sophisticated. The cake is moist and fresh, and houses a generous layer of rich chocolate creme. Your taste buds are sure to be smiling! You will likely be a little disappointed by the size once again, when you discover how delectable and delicious these snack cakes are.

Overall: If your diet and wallet can handle the blow, Oreo Cakesters are a premium snack.
