Product Review: Palm Pilot Tungsten E2

T. Schnieders
I normally don't go for gadgets like iPods, or Palm Pilots, or Apple iPhones, I've always thought of them as pointless status symbols. My way of thinking was changed recently though when one of the survey companies that I work with for extra money sent one to me via Fed Ex to record my snack food consumption for two weeks. I went to my local Fed Ex office to pick up my package with the thoughts of "oh great one more bulky gadget I'll have to keep track of". I opened the box to find the Palm Tungsten E2 a rather shiny stainless steel Palm Pilot that roughly the same size as the iPhone or iPod Touch.

So I began my assignment as instructed using the Palm Pilot and its custom iTrac software to record my daily consumption of snacks. I was amazed it fits comfortably in my pocket as well as in my hand, the included stylus is thin but easy to grip and tap in my information as needed. It seems to hold a 100 % charge in its battery for well over 24 hours under normal use. It's also Bluetooth compatible, and most versions on the market have built in internet access or WiFi capabilities.

So I must admit I was reluctant at first to use this device, but since I was getting paid to use it for two weeks I figured I could suffer through it for the extra income. My way of thinking was changed though and now I hate to have to send it back to the survey company to complete my assignment, but I must if I want to receive my complete payment for my services rendered. I think I may buy my own Palm Tungsten E2 soon though as I seemed to have fallen in love with it's features, sleek sturdy stainless steel housing, and dependability.
