Product Review: Pantene Pro-V Smoothing Comb-In Treatment

I have hair that is very sensitive to the elements; cold temperatures, heat and humidity wreak havoc on my locks. There are few worse things that can happen when you are trying to make a good impression during a job interview or on a first date than hair that suddenly develops an exceedingly defiant mind of its own. Hair that goes from smooth to suddenly frizzy can change your look from polished to harried just as quickly.

I already take pains to properly care for my hair. One product that i was missing, however was a leave-in product that I could use before styling. I needed something to tame my often wild, frizzy tresses; the ability to make styling easier would be an added bonus. I found what I was looking for with Pantene's Pro-V Smoothing Comb-In treatment.

The first attribute of the product I analyzed was the price. After all, a product can not be of much use to you if you can not afford to use it regularly. Hair products, unlike wine are not meant to be squirreled away for use only on special occasions. Pantene's Pro-V treatment caught my attention immediately because of its affordable price of $4.50 for 10.2 ounces.

After using the product for a while I realized that it was more economical than I had previously thought because it lasts for quite a long time. If you have short hair one bottle should last you two months if you longer hair you'll use the bottle more quickly.

The next thing that I noticed about the treatment was apparent as soon as I squeezed some out of the bottle. The product smells wonderfully light, sweet, and fresh. The scent is strong enough for you to smell it while you are applying it and depending on how much you use the scent can last all day. I am often told that I smell good and am asked what perfume I am wearing after I have used it.

After using the product the first time I noticed immediate results. It literally transformed my cousin it with a bad case of bed head hair (hey we all have bad hair days) into soft, smooth and manageable locks that smelled lovely. The treatment banished frizz and tamed some of my fly away strands. I was able to style my hair more easily and my hair held styles for longer. Occasionally I'll use a little extra of the product and then simply scrunch my hair. The treatment will help hold the style for most of the day.

The long term hair repair abilities of the treatment disappointed me. The bottle touts the inclusion of Pantene's specialty Pro-vitamin and Amino Protein complexes in the cream, and claims that their effect on the hair is nourishing. The added vitamins and proteins do appear to help hair repair, but the long-term effect is minimal. Many of Pantene's other products do a better job of this so I was expecting the cream to perform a little better in this area. If you have very frizzy, stubborn, or damaged hair expect to need another leave in conditioner or other hair treatment in addition to this product.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this product. I use it on a daily basis and plan to use this treatment long term.
