Product Review: Pantene Pro-V's Color Preserve Shine Conditioner

I recently tested a sample of Pantene's New Color Preserve Shine Conditioner from their new Color Hair Solutions line. As a double-processed person, relaxed and color-treated, I demand a lot from my conditioners. They must smell great, must have great "slip" and must detangle my hair like a dream. They also must contain key structural proteins and components to help rebuild my cuticles. Overall, I was quite impressed with the quality of the Color Preserve Shine Conditioner. At just under $5-6, this conditioner is a great bargain brand! The Color Preserve Conditioner is an excellent conditioner for color-treated hair.

Pros: Pantene Color Preserve Shine Conditioner
I was really excited to try out the Color Preserve Conditioner because I am really big on moisturizing conditioner formulas. In the past, I've been spoiled by the pricier likes of Kenra, Joico and Elucence deep moisturizing conditioners, so my conditioner performance standards are set fairly high. After a week with the Pantene shampoo and conditioner set, I was surprised to find the Pantene Color Preserve Shine Conditioner to be a very strong contender in the moisturizing department. Certainly, within this price range, the Pantene Color Preserve Shine Conditioner is a tough act to follow. Like a true, moisturizing conditioner, this stuff was nice and thick! You can tell it was meant to smother strands in creamy luxury, and for $5, that's pretty rare and hard to come by. The conditioner also smells very nice, and has that typical Pantene clean scent. This scent lingers throughout the day, which is an added benefit.

Because my tresses are both relaxed and color-treated, my hair needs a more concentrated and thorough deep-conditioning effort than a quick rinse-out conditioner to stay healthy. I also need a bit of protein in the conditioning formula to really get the most benefit from the product. The Color Preserve Shine Conditioner contains panthenol to help strengthen weakened or stressed, color-treated strands. The conditioner rinses cleanly and leaves the strands feeling quite soft. Pantene's Color Preserve Conditioner provided a pretty good detangling experience, and the slip it provided was also great. Like the Color Preserve Shampoo, the Color Preserve Conditioner also contains dimethicone to flatten and smooth the cuticle surface to resist tangling. The dimethicone and other smoothing agents in the conditioner help keep the hair shiny, the color vibrant and the fiber more resilient.

None! But, if you are sensitive to silicones, you may want to go easy on this particular conditioner or use it regularly with the shampoo.

Conclusion
The Color Preserve Conditioner is a definite winner in my mind. I'd definitely recommend it to folks who need something super moisturizing on a tight budget. To me, it was the perfect balance for the shampoo and really picked up where the shampoo left off.
