The Power Plate uses what they call Acceleration Training Technology that uses vibrations to increase your fitness levels. The description says it allows you to get a full-body workout in 15 minutes a day, three days per week. I don't quite agree with this statement because I feel it is necessary to do some cardio or weight training on top of using the Power Plate.
The idea behind the product is that the vibrations activate natural muscle reflexes many more times per second than you could do on your own. Your body's responses to the vibration include improving muscle tone and strength. Bone density, joint stability, and circulation are improved as well. I find this product most useful in reducing the soreness I experience in my muscles from other types of exercise.
While I use this product in my gym, I would definitely consider purchasing one for my home if it were more affordable. The Power Plate is compact and would easily fit in any living room or bedroom corner. However, it is very heavy so it is not something you would want to move around often. It also seems much quieter in comparison to the treadmills and other equipment in the gym so you could use it at home without disturbing other people or while you watch TV.
The Power Plate comes with its own 15 minute workout designed to give you results as fast as possible. There are many different positions that you can do with the machine so it doesn't get boring the way running on a treadmill can. While I have not lost any weight since I started using the machine, I feel that I am more toned and noticed my clothes fitting better. The product is worth a look if you are interested in purchasing a different type of workout machinery.
