Product Review: Prestone Jump It! Portable Battery Jump Starter
The Prestone Jump It! Portable Battery Jump Starter is a portable 12 volt battery charger with two jumper cables attached to it. The unit weighs about twenty pounds. Although it may be a little heavy for some motorists, it does have a built in handle on top to make carrying it a little easier. It has convenient clamp holsters on either side of the unit. There is a gauge on the front to let you know how well the unit is charged. The unit requires periodic charging by plugging into any electrical outlet using the cord which is included with the unit and stores conveniently in the back of the unit. The Prestone Jump It! Portable Battery Jump Starter also has a built in light with an on/off switch on its front that can help provide illumination under the hood on a dark night. This feature is also useful in a power outage and can provide up to 30 hours of light. The unit can also be used to power any device that can be used with a cigarette lighter adapter. It can run your cell phones or laptop computer when you are on the road.
The unit is very sturdy and durable with an impact resistant case. It can be stored in any position and it will not leak. The manufacturer also considered the safety of the user by allowing the user to leave the clamps on the sides of the unit until ready to use. The clamp holsters on the sides of the unit prevent the live clamps from coming in contact with each other or the user in storage.
The only drawbacks of The Prestone Jump It! Portable Battery Jump Starter are its weight and the fact that the light is mounted in a fixed position. Making it lighter in weight and including a multidirectional light would be definite improvements.

Post a CommentIi have 2 " P " jump boxes - tremendous worth to me - both are starting to not have any "punch" to provide charge , start , or "lighter plug" energy - what is the life span and can any thing be done to revitalize them ? I can't emagine not having them to RELY upon! Any ideas or suggestions possible replacement power box --- ytn64@yahoo.com

A replacement power adapter is available online at www.centurytools.net the product to type in their search box is esa2 and costs $25.00.
Went to Radio Shack for a replacement power adapter. They don't have it so don't bother. May give the "Batter Tender Jr." a look on Ebay as Jason suggested.
I'm like the rest of you , i have a "Jump It " with no power cord . So i got creative and tried my " Battery Tender Jr. " that i use for my motorcycle battery and it seems to work great . You can pick these things up for $20 or so on sale from " Cycle Gear " or just about any motorcycle shop, even eBay . There are two ways you can use it , 1) is use the included alligator clips to clip onto the " Jump It's " clips or 2) attach the battery terminal rings to the battery and drill a little hole in the top to push the connector thru . Hope this helps out some people who felt helpless like myself . Note: the Battery Tender Jr. does put out 750 mAH for those concerned , but the LED changes colors to tell you when it's charging , above 80 percent charged and automatically switches to float / maintenance voltage after fully charging the battery
