Product Review: The Razor Vapor Pocket Mod Moped

Is This Cool Scooter Worth Your Money?

The Sewing Mom
The Razor Pocket Mod is an electric sit on scooter for ages 12 and up. The Vapor Pocket Mod is sleek, black and stylish, has a license plate that can be personalized, and travels at speeds up to 15 mph. It seems pretty cool to your kids and maybe you too, but is the Razor Vapor Pocket Mod really worth the money?

The Ups

The Razor Pocket Mod has some very nice features that make it appealing to young and old. On the positive side, let's begin with the speed. It can travel at speeds up to 15 mph, which is pretty quick for an electric scooter. Sitting low to the ground, If the scooter has a full electrical charge, it can feel as if its going faster. This scooter is great for riding around the neighborhood and for quick trips around the block. The scooter is quite easy to operate with a turn of the wrist to increase or decrease speed and a left hand break for stopping.

The Pocket Mod is not street legal so don't plan on using it to run errands! This scooter rides on 12 inch tires that give it a fairly smooth ride. It has a storage compartment under the seat for whatever you need. Kids will love the fact that they can use the stickers that come with the scooter to personalize the rear license plate. The Pocket Mod also has a built in easy up/down center mount kickstand and a simple to use electric charger. Simply plug one end into the scooter jack and the other into a standard electrical outlet. To conserve energy, the scooter has an on board on/off switch.

The Downs

The biggest drawback of the Pocket Mod is the amount of time you have to ride it on one charge. On a full charge, which takes 8 hours, the scooter will operate for 30 minutes before needing recharged. When the scooter runs out of power, it can be given a quick charge for 20 minutes, but this does not give an additional full 30 minutes of riding time. Another downside to the Pocket Mod is its size. The scooter will hold up to 150 lbs but it's dimensions are smaller than expected. While its length is fairly acceptable, its height makes it feel small, more of a toy than a scooter. A 5'7" individual would more than likely find their knees rubbing on the front of the scooter. While this scooter is for people ages 12 and up, if the rider is tall or large, this scooter could be uncomfortable.

Overall Worth It?

Overall, the Razor Pocket Mod is a fun little ride. Besides Vapor (black), it also comes in Bistro (mint green), purple and a retro green. The information can be confusing because various website state differing weight limits ranging from 150 - 175 pounds. Different charge times are also listed giving anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes of ride time. One website went so far as to say that the Pocket Mod travels at speeds up to 15 miles per hour. However, according to the Razor website, this scooter will travel up to 10 mph on a 30 minute charge and will hold up to 150 pounds. All in all, the Razor Pocket Mod is worth the money.

Accessories

As with any scooter, a helmet is a must. While 10 mph doesn't sound very fast, this scooter sits lower than a bicycle and may be more difficult to see by the driver of any size vehicle. In addition, while it is easy to operate and due to its size, is easy to sit on balanced like a bicycle, accidents happen. Be prepared, wear a helmet.

I bought this and it is amazing! I am only 12 and I saved up my money for a year to get this! It was well worth it! I ride it everywhere! I spead by my friends on their scooters and bikes, but one of my friends has the teal one, too, and our neighborhood knows us as "The Mini Moped Crew". I wonder how I lived without it! It ROCKS!
