Product Review: Reese's Whipps

This bar comes in a wrapper that is the color of typical Reeses's orange wrapper. The color definitely makes the candy bar stand out among the other candy bars on display. It also has the typical yellow Reese's text on the wrapper. Underneath that, there is white text surrounded with blue that says "Whipps." Then, net to the words there is a picture of the product with the end cut off so the inside of the candy bar can be seen. There is a bit of white on the wrapper to make the area where the candy bar is pictured stand out from the rest of the wrapper.

What the product promises:

The product promises two main things on the wrapper:

"40% less fat than the leading chocolate candy" and "light and fluffy peanut butter flavored nougat."

If there are any other claims, they have not been seen or heard.

What the product offers:

The candy bar does have a good chocolate covering. The inside is a nougat somewhat like in a Three Musketeer bar. However, it is a bit thicker being that it is peanut butter flavored. It is not much thicker, though. It is quite smooth and easily melts in the mouth, which is enjoyable.

The peanut butter flavored nougat is not as sweet as the powdery peanut butter in Reese's Cups. However, it is still sweeter than a normal peanut butter. At times, the peanut butter taste even overwhelms the taste of the chocolate, but it is not so much the chocolate cannot be tasted.

It is also true that there is 40% less fat than the leading candy bars. This bar has 9 grams of fat while most other candy bars have 16 grams of fat.

Is it worth it?

If this is the type of candy wanted, it is worth buying. The bar is most likely not going to cost more than $3 at the most expensive. Even $3 for the bar would be really expensive. However, in some specialty stores or novelty stores, the bar may cost that much.

Comments:

This is another good product from Reese's. It will definitely be loved by people who like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, but find the peanut butter filling a bit too sweet. The nougat is definitely nice and soft. The bars are easy to eat as well, though they also melt quite easily and can make a huge mess.
