Proactive.com explains the Refining Mask as "a luxurious boost to your 3-Step system, gently removing impurities and refining skin texture. Includes 6% sulfur."
Ok, I hate to start with the cons, but I have to tell you that this is expensive. The full 2.5 oz bottle goes for about $50. That is crazy seeing as DDF, which I consider to have a good quality and expensive has almost twice the size of the Refining Mask with its 4oz jar, but costs a lot less with $34 a jar. Yes, you can get this with their trial package for free but I think Proactive 3-step system is pointless to buy and waste of money if it does not work for you and if all you want is the mask.
Well, for that reason, it makes me feel a bit guilty to really enjoy the mask. But, what you can do instead, since the cost is obnoxious, use it as a spot treatment. And it does a great job at that. This works with pretty much most of the sulfur masks out there but I think this refining mask works better as a spot treatment than any other mask that I have tried. It is absolutely wonderful, in my opinion, but nothing special. It won't banish your pimple overnight. But, it will significantly make it smaller right after you use it.
But, if you want to use this as a mask, go ahead. It's just as good that way too. I don't think this is as drying as other masks that I have used. This is absolutely not a hydrating mask, but it actually makes your skin feel softer after you use it. And, I could see people with dry skin using this with no problem.
The texture of this is kind of like Elmer's glue. It can be a bit sticky, but it's not over the top sticky. And, I actually like the texture of this quite a bit. The texture is pretty thin so you can spread it easily and allows you to use just a little bit at a time, and since it is sticky, you can use a lot if you want to.
So, is this product worth your money? It might be. But, there are seriously so many products with sulfur nowadays, and since sulfur is its active ingredient, I would spend this money on something else.
