Revlon promises its smoothing primer will give users a smooth, virtually pore-less appearance and creates a smooth base for lasting foundation. Revlon also claims the product is a light-weight gel that absorbs easily and that the primer's scent is uplifting and refreshing. I have been using Revlon beyond natural smoothing primer for a couple of weeks now and these are the observations I have made about the product.
Revlon beyond natural is securely packaged in a durable plastic container with a twist on lid that will make accidental spillage of the product highly unlikely. The bottle requires pressure to remove the contents though and the first time I used Revlon beyond natural smoothing primer this caused a problem for me. I squeezed the bottle as directed to use the primer, however I had my hand and the bottle too close to my face when I did so. The primer gel sort of "popped" out of the bottle and I got some in one of eyes. It was not a pleasant experience; however I avoided any future incidents by simply keeping the bottle well away from my face when squeezing the primer out.
My initial thoughts about the primer itself involved its scent. Revlon's beyond natural smoothing primer smells very good. The scent is light and refreshing but is not overpowering or distracting.
Revlon beyond natural smoothing primer's package directs you to apply the primer using many small dots and rubbing them into skin in an outward direction. The package also directs the user to apply the smoothing primer to the face after use of moisturizer. I found this to be very good advice. I have used Revlon smoothing primer both with and without moisturizer and found that the results are remarkably better when used after moisturizing. However, I also noted that I needed to wait several minutes for my moisturizer to absorb before I applied the primer otherwise the primer did not seem to absorb as well. Then it made my skin look kind of oily.
I also discovered that it is essential to make sure that Revlon beyond natural smoothing primer has completely absorbed into the skin on your face before you apply any other makeup. The gel primer has a lot of moisturizers in it and when not fully absorbed by facial skin it will cause make-up to smear and slide and just not apply properly to the face. This problem was easily remedied just by my waiting a few minutes after primer application to put on my other make-up.
When fully absorbed I found the primer to be an excellent base for makeup. While the primer does not provide any coverage for acne or discoloration it does an excellent job at helping to fill in wrinkles and make pores look smaller. I was able to intensify this effect by using more of Revlon smoothing primer on areas of my face that have begun showing signs of wrinkles such as crows feet and laugh lines. Revlon smoothing primer also made my skin look healthy and refreshed.
Revlon's beyond natural smoothing primer costs and average of 12.00 to 13.00 depending on where you purchase it for a bottle containing .85 oz. While this product is expensive, it does not take much of it to produce the desired effect so I found it to be a good value.
Overall, I was very satisfied with Revlon beyond natural smoothing primer. I plan to use this product long term and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a make-up base that adds healthy shine to skin while helping to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and pores.
