Product Review: Rite Aid Simplify Soda

Naturally Flavored Simplify Soda Tastes Great & It's 99 Cents

A store's house brand can be something of a gamble. You'll get a cheaper version of things like butter, dry cereal or snack crackers, but the desired taste isn't always up to the same zesty level as big name equivalents. Soda is a beverage many of us take pretty seriously. The big names like Coca-Cola and Pepsi may still corner most of the soft drink market, however many stores still lure customers to purchase their own house brand. Many of these soda varieties can be satisfying, while many more should be avoided. I'm glad to report that Simplify Soda from Rite Aid is not only competitively priced and naturally flavored, but tastes great.

Taste Test

Simplify Soda delivers a great, full bodied and smooth taste. The label boasts that it's "thirst quenching" and I'd have to agree with the claim wholeheartedly. I've sampled the Cola and Ginger Ale varieties - there's also a Lemon Lime flavor. Both sodas have a really full bodied taste. The cola especially tastes pleasing, without that harsh, bitter taste which can accompany many cheaper cola sodas or even some big name brands.

Most of us love our sodas cold - I'm no exception to that refreshing rule. However, this soda even tastes good warm, or poured out freshly over a big glass of ice. Soda may be the go to drink for just about any food or any occasion, but we mostly love it at celebrations, or while hanging out with friends. Simplify certainly measures up to a soft drink that can deliver lots of flavor, whether ice cold or just being opened from a warm container off the store shelf.

Nutrition Notes

On the bottle label, Simplify Soda says that it's "naturally flavored." Per serving, the soda has 110 calories and 27g of sugar. It has 30mg of sodium, caramel color, caffeine and natural flavor. Whatever that natural flavor actually is, it's tasty. There's no real aftertaste, or a discernible harsh taste like in other sodas.

Summary

Simplify Soda from Rite Aid delivers a really tasty, naturally flavored soda drink. It quenches your thirst without that harsh, or even acidic taste found in many other sodas, especially those cheaper house brands. It's priced at around 99 cents for a 2 liter bottle, and can be found in the Rite Aid chain of pharmacy stores. This house brand soda is a good alternative to those high priced name brands, for both the naturally flavored taste and price.

Decided to try the Diet Cola. I usually don't have a problem with generic / store brand sodas (maybe I'm just not too picky), but this tasted like it was 6 months expired. Then again, who knows if it was because there is no date on it. There is no phone number or contact information to find out if it was just left on the shelf too long or if it just tastes nasty. Haven't tried the regular flavors, but will never buy the Simplify brand again.
