Product Review - Rival Crock Pot

I know of a lot of people who have a crock pot stored somewhere that has never been used. Maybe it was received as a shower gift years ago. Well, get it out! I don't know what I would do without my crock pot. It has a permanent home on my kitchen counter. There is no sense in putting it away since I use it at least twice a week.

A lot of people have a fear of leaving something plugged in and "cooking" while they are out of the house. Nonsense! I have been using my crock pot for many, many years and it has never created a dangerous situation for me. I have it on my counter sitting on top of a glass counter saver. Trust me. It is safe to have it cooking all day long.

The great thing about it is that if you are stuck in traffic or having to work late you don't have to worry about it burning up. It cooks slowly so an extra hour or two really doesn't make much difference in the final result.

Another misconception that people have is that you can only make soups or liquid based meals in your crock pot. Again, that is nonsense. Great meals can be prepared as easy as 1, 2, 3. One of my favorite and easiest things to make is as follows: 1) take a pork loin roast and brush it entirely in Kitchen Bouquet (found in grocery store near gravy usually), 2) sprinkle roast with garlic salt and pepper, and 3) place this roast on top of 4 or 5 whole unpeeled, but washed, potatoes. That's it! Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. If the roast is big, cut it in half and lay each piece side by side. You will come home to a delicious meal of roast pork with baked potatoes. No liquid added at all! Simply open up a can of vegetables and you have your entire meal prepared. No need to pre-brown or precook the meat. I like to make a lot and then use the left over meat to make pulled pork sandwiches. I shred the pork by using two forks and pulling the meat apart and then add Jack Daniels Barbecue Sauce. Yummy! Everyone loves this and you will too.

If you are smart, you will purchase a crock pot with a removable crock. This makes for an easy clean up as well as allows you to prepare things the night before and keep them in the refrigerator. The next morning simply take it out of the refrigerator and plug it in.

Once you get in the habit of using it you will see that you will want to use it more and more. I have even baked peach cobbler and cakes, yes, cakes, in mine. If you have a child away at college, it is great for them. It is especially handy for you newly divorced men who don't know how to cook. Just get your crock pot and a nice cook book for crock pot cooking and you will soon be an excellent cook in no time at all.
