The back of the package explains their mission for their organic products. Russell Stover supports eco-friendly organic practices and farms. The dairy cows on these farms consume organic feed and lots of fresh air. Russell Stover has also achieved USDA sanctioned Organic certification and their products are at least 95% organic.
The bag is a pretty green with shapes resembling leaves; probably to emphasize their organic nature. The bag is small; 3 ounces. There are 3 pieces per serving and there are about 2 servings per bag. However I only eat one piece of candy at a time so this bag would last me a few days. Each serving has 210 calories, 11 grams of fat, 9 grams of sat fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 5 mg of cholesterol (1% of the RDA), 30 mg of Sodium (1% of the RDA), 27 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of dietary fiber, 16 grams of sugars, 2 grams of protein and 2% of the RDA of Iron. These chocolates are processed on equipment that also makes food that contains nuts, milk, eggs, soybeans and wheat so they are not allergy-free.
I was very happy with the taste and texture of these chocolate coconut nuggets. They are little oblong balls of slightly sweet, chewy coconut coated in a delicious milk chocolate. The coconut was a pleasant surprise because it wasn't sickly sweet, but just right. I love these little chocolates and might ask Santa to leave me some in my Christmas stocking. It would also make a sweet, organic treat to add two or three of these to lunchboxes. The 3 ounce bags cost $2.99 so they are not too expensive either.
Russell Stover offers several other organic flavors. In the 3 ounce bag they also have Pecan delights, which are roasted pecans covered in caramel and then coated with chocolate. In the 4.5 oz. fold over bag they have a 60% Cacao Dark Organic Chocolate and an Organic Belgian Milk Chocolate.
I would highly recommend these chocolates to anyone who loves the flavors of coconut and chocolate. It's also a great way to support organic farms and sustainable farming practices.
