Product Review: Sally Hansen Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color

Alexis Valentine
Sally Hansen isn't as well known of a brand as some of the other drug store brands but Sally Hansen products can be found just about any place that sells Cover Girl, Maybelline, L'Oreal, etc. I've noticed that while working at Walgreens as a beauty advisor that although Sally Hansen has a beauty line their most popular products tend to be their nail products. I'm not sure why that is but I've noticed that customers tend to prefer Sally Hansen nail products much more than other Sally Hansen products. One day I got curious and decided to try one of their nail colors just to see how well it worked. I picked up Sally Hansen Diamond Strength no chip nail color in a few colors.

About

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength no chip nail color comes in a 36 colors and can be found at any drug store, Wal-Mart or Target, and costs about $3 a bottle. The product claims to instantly bond with nails to provide a diamond hard protective coating that is shatterproof and is suppose to end nail splitting, cracking and peeling. The colors for Sally Hansen Diamond Strength no chip nail colors are made to be light reflecting, producing a multi-dimensional shine that is unlike any other nail polish. This nail polish is also suppose to be chip resistant as well as waterproof.

My Experience
Pros

I've been using Sally Hansen Diamond Strength no chip nail color for years and my favorite color out of the 36 is their Platinum. I like the bottle for this nail polish because it's shaped similar to a genie bottle in it's curve and roundness making it easy to handle. The faux diamond attached to the front of the bottle adds a unique touch to it too. What I've noticed about Sally Hansen Diamond Strength no chip nail color is that the color has staying power. On my toe nails I can go for weeks before having to redo them. On my finger nails, however, the color doesn't lasts as long but it does lasts up to a week, sometimes a little longer depending on how good the topcoat is. It really doesn't chip or peel and goes on thin and evenly. There's no clumping or streaking with this nail polish either.

Cons

The size of the bottle like many of other Sally Hansen's nail color is noticeably smaller than other nail polishes. Although it's a pretty good nail polish that can last up to a week it's not as good as it claims. My nails don't generally crack, peel or split but it's not because of Sally Hansen Diamond Strength no chip nail color. The coating really isn't as tough as it claims to be. Although the color lasts up to a week it's not completely chip resistant. At some point the colors do start to chip around the base of my finger nails.

Verdict

It's a pretty good nail polish with a great color selection to choose from and it lasts a good length of time. But all the hype about being tough as diamonds and chip-resistant is just that, hype.
